Reality is that I'm better than some, equal to others and less than some.

So is that why people go to higher learning colleges, for diversity, that counterproductive! Sounds like something a nightclub would do

OMG! And what your beef then? Clearly affirmative action does not follow that rule of thumb..

I guess it would be, once you admit your argument was ridiculous :)

The politicalforum site is close to being functionally useless this morning, probably because system programmers and administrators often pick 'dead times' of the week to perform upgrades, updates, and other system maintenance. I'll check back later.

(sigh) No, that's not why people go to higher learning colleges and it's not counterproductive and it's not what I said. That's what the University of Michican was trying to do.

It's counterproductive to give a SPOT to someone because of anything other than potential, aptitude and merit! Affirmative action does just that! Why waste time on anyone unable to understand a subject because of a dumb law :)

I think I'll just 'hang my hat' on what I wrote in my Post #516 above and let it go at that. In the United States it SHOULD be a crime when publicly-supported institutions of any kind treat people unequally -- either 'for', or 'against'. This "Affirmative Action" thing does EXACTLY that, so, what defense can there possibly be for such an injustice? It is the vilest kind of obvious and overt racism and it must be done away with immediately. 'Nuff said!'

Good for you. I did the same .. worked full time in a minimum wage job and went to school at night. Plenty of people put themselves through university by paying their own way as they go. Not everyone has rich parents, or is certain of their ability to repay a large debt.

And you're right .. anyone can do it. Especially in this era of welfare and other options for financial support of study.

Go on. Keep making excuses for blacks (or keep making excuses for your false ideology).

Biggs could have gone to Central in his own hometown if race were that big of a consideration as to his identity. If he got into CH, he could have gotten scholarships at NC-Central.

Anyway, I really don't care what the universities do or don't do, but be forewarned---if the SCOTUS bans AA/race considerations in universities, whites aren't going to be the big winner. Asians will be. Whites will be going to the next to the back seat in the bus.

Why is it that the left never bothered to stand up for discrimination against Asians but instead condone state sponsored racism against Asians?

All that should matter is merit. I don't care about who does better or worse as long as skin color is not being considered.

Given that whites are the most grossly underrepresented portion of the population when it comes to college enrollment I’d say you’re wrong.

Whites are disproportionately represented at 4 year colleges. Their total representation numbers are greatly diluted by including community colleges that don't have much admission criteria where hispanics and blacks are over represented and whites are underrepresented, particularly in trade related certificate programs.

I think colleges and universities should be able to admit using any criteria they want whether it is your religious devotion that gets you into Liberty even if you are dumb as a bag of rocks or your "merit" is your ability to shoot 20 three pointers in a row that gets you into Duke. In addition, some colleges have very particular missions. Admit based strictly on grades, and you will see agriculture/forestry programs dropping like flies at schools with such missions such as Virginia Tech in favor of expanded engineering and math programs.

    Source that claim

    https://research.com/universities-colleges/college-enrollment-statistics

The breakdown of student demographics per race, gender, and age is as follows.

    Race
    • 55% of enrolled college students are White.

Whereas 65% of the population is white. Name ONE other group that’s underrepresented in college.

    Don’t worry. I’ll wait.
