Why are you ignoring what analysts are saying about gas prices?

Hey, now, you aren't being fair! Mexico paid for all of that just like they paid for the fictitious wall!

I'm not ignoring it. Gas prices have several factors which determine pricing which is largely ignored by republicans who do not want to hear about anything other than Biden's policies and Washington. So I am asking which one of his policies have caused prices to spike in the last month. I'm not aware of any new policies, and the only thing I can think of is that oil producers got spooked by republicans winning the House.

My German friends have wood heaters called 'Holzkamins', and fortunately for them, an abundance of wood (although they had to cut it, transport it, split it, and stack it themselves). These heaters are incredibly efficient, and they emit very little pollution (tightly regulated over there) but the good wood-burners are expensive!

Again, you're ignoring what analysts are saying about why gas prices are rising right now.

Also, let's remember that there is oi/gasoline and there is electricity. Oil isn't used for generating electricity.

So, I'm guessing someone is trying to pull you leg by attributing electric energy policy to oil policy. But, they are definitely NOT the same.

Republicans absolutely ARE holding our whole economy hostage. And, if they follow through on that, it would be a gigantic blow to America that would last for decades, as rebuilding faith in American investments and our ability to borrow would take a long time to recover. Plus, the blow to the elderly, those unable to work, education, etc., would be devastating. They are holding a gun to the head of America, demanding submission to their will.

Some would be irreversible. We have a big advantage in that the world oil market is denominated in US dollars. That would certainly go away, never to return.

Our founders created out legislature as a place where policy alternatives are to be negotiated. They weren't interested in OK Corral type demands.

I can't comment on emissions, of course.

But, I will say that on the carbon issue, burning wood grown in a sustainable manner at least has the advantage that it is a cycle. Trees take carbon from the air (not the ground). Then, rotting, burning, etc. returns that carbon to the air.

Fossil fuel is NOT like that.

Government energy policy obviously impacts fuel prices. Administration policy dictates supply levels.

Actually what has changed is that there’s no more oil in the strategic reserves which can be put into the market. The oil which was there was purchased by the previous administration for $20.00 a barrel. Now it has to be replaced at over $60.00 a barrel. This will cause the cost at the pump to skyrocket. This will also cause another increase in inflation.

Anyone claiming the price increase which started in December 2022 is because Republicans took control of one chamber of the congress is a full blown partisan hack. Congressional Republicans have had no influence on any administration policy.

Biden ran in 2020 on a policy of shutting down the oil industry.

Because they are. No matter who’s in office, an administration’s energy policies dictate the price at the pump. Period.

    That is not true.

There are 371,000,000 barrels of oil in the strategic reserves.

I believe the strategic reserve went from 590M barrels to the current 371M barrels.

So, instead of being empty as you claim, it is more than half full.

I can't find any analyst that believes replenishing the strategic reserve will affect gas prices in the USA.

Purchased for $20 a barrel and then sold for how much? I'm sure talk of forcing the government to default on loans and send the global economy into a recession has no effect.

You have to do better than that.

What policy are you claiming has changed the price of oil or gas within the time period of a fraction of an administration?

Exactly. The difference between the sales price and the future purchase price is what matters.

The price originally paid is irrelevant - except for partisan political nonsense.

Several refineries have suspended operations and others have cut back production. Why? Because the administration is not allowing them to receive enough crude oil to operate at full capability.

The Democrats and the Biden administration would love to nationalize the oil industry.

You’re just being hard headed at this point. I’ve told what’s happening and you’re so much of a hack you refuse to accept it.

The price of fuel started to increase the first day of the Biden administration. First he eliminated the ability to move millions of gallons more oil from Canada to the Texas gulf coast. Then he shut down the extraction of oil from oil rich areas in Alaska and off the coasts.

Those are the things Biden ran on. Those are the promises he made and kept. This is what his voters wanted. Well, you got it and now you’re blaming others for the results of what you voted for.

Wow! Please cite your claim of presidential interference.

I'm not accepting that purely on the recommendation of a poster.

And, I also see NO EVIDENCE AT ALL that Biden or anyone other Democrat in office wants to nationalize oil.

In fact, please note it is Republicans who want the president to have control of oil production.

Over and over we see Republicans state that deire by demanding that the president take actions only possible if oil is nationalized.

I don't think that is true. What refineries have suspended operations because "the administration is not allowing them to receive enough crude oil to operate at full capability"?

Moving oil from Canada to the gulf coast was a move the industry wanted in order to INCREASE THE PRICE OF THAT OIL. Without easy access to the coast for shipping, that oil was somewhat trapped, lowering the local price of that oil.

Suspending oil leases in Alaska does not affect gas prices. Refineries still have to buy oil. There is a world price for oil, and oil companies can sell their oil to the highest bidder, wherever they are.

Well here's the thing. I googled it, and cannot find anything close to what you claim. Now, it is your claim, not mine. Due to the lack of citation and lack of me being able to find anything, I assume it is not true.
