Running for the worst excuse ever award, Trump's lawyer explains Trump's use of material marked classified.

Apparently, a folder was used because the light from Trump's phone kept him up at night.

    Really.

This was stated by his lawyer.

Lawyer Timothy Parlatore said on Sunday that former President Trump, whom Parlatore represents, used an empty folder that said “Classified Evening Summary” to block a light in his bedroom at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida.

“He has one of those landline telephones next to his bed, and it has a blue light on it, and it keeps him up at night. So he took the manilla folder and put it over so it would keep the light down so he could sleep at night,” Parlatore told CNN.

“It’s just this folder. It says ‘Classified Evening Summary’ on it. It’s not a classification marking. It’s not anything that is controlled in any way. There is nothing illegal about it.”

The folder was reportedly turned over to the Justice Department in December, months after the FBI executed a search warrant at Mar-a-Lago, along with more materials with classified markings and a laptop belonging to a current Trump aide.

Classified materials had reportedly been electronically copied onto the laptop.

sounds like a distraction from the real folders of concern and their contents

this was just a "‘Classified Evening Summary’" folder - though no clue what happened to contents or what is supposed to happen to contents

With out knowing what happened to the contents its kind of a non story IMO. Did he shred them and keep the folder because he didnt want to waste paper? Can't say one way or the other.

Do you have any evidence that shows otherwise? Even a tiny, little piece?

We already know what he did with the documents. Obviously he flushed them down the toilets after he sold copies to our enemies. Duh.

Perhaps, all though unlikely with his net worth. IF he was doing something shady, I think it would be more of a trade. These documents for access to the hottest brides in your country or something along those lines.

Flushing classified documents down the toilet? No problem.

TG he didn't try that with paper towels!

In his defense, Trump did say he was smarter than all the Generals, so obviously he improvised all knowing that was the correct material to use.

This is comparable with the Hillary Clinton email server scandal. They asked her if she wiped it, to which she responded do you mean with a cloth?
