Mother slams 'despicable' Biden for laughing about her sons' fentanyl deaths

Are not then all drug overdoses the fault of failed government policies over the course of numerous Democrat and Republican administrations? Biden laughing at the question was certainly ill advised, but to place the blame squarely upon Biden seems like partisanship to me. Both parties have played their part in the failures of drug enforcement policy. I am angry at both parties for their continued impotence at mitigating drug deaths.

fentanyl deaths are caused by the republican's war on drugs, people can't buy known goods, so they buy on the black market and get tainted goods as they have no way to know what they are actually buying

during alcohol prohibition, people used to buy bad alcohol too

had her sons been able to buy these pain pills legally like Alcohol, they would be alive today

Yes you are right but the insensitivity extended to the mother that lost her two boys as if it is an unserious, laughing matter. Couple that with the fact this is the only time he has mentioned fentanyl and blamed that on others. MTG is right. He is responsible for doing nothing about 100,000 American deaths.

Fentanyl is laced into other drugs. Very few people are going to a dealer because they want fentanyl. The deaths tend to be from people thinking they were taking a pill of something else or of a less potent dose.

Additionally, Border Patrol leadership has testified under oath that the massive increase in migrants impacts their ability to catch fentanyl coming across the border. It's an obvious resource issue. They also detailed that when several hundred migrants show up at the border escorted by cartel coyotes it takes resources from the ports of entry and the border itself to apprehend and transport them leaving them with minimal resources to inspect for drugs.

The army needs to be mobilized to go destroy the cartels in Mexico. The NSA and DEA need to get together and destroy the domestic cartels. Drug possession mandatory 6 months in jail anywhere in the country. This is a rather soft approach, yet the leftists would say it is fascistic. Lol.

Bottom line. If the drug problem isn't addressed immediately the little future this place does have will be gone. It's already a nightmare.

 

MTG was confused about the timing. But, Trump at least cared about enforcing the border and made it a top priority to secure it. The Biden administration has historically made it a top priority to roll back effective security measures despite the negative side effects. There are a lot of things someone can say to poke fun MTG, and Biden could have corrected her on this point without laughing. But, laughing about her being wrong about the deaths of someone's kids is a pretty shitty thing to do. The mother has to watch the President laughing while talking about this with a history of largely ignoring the problem as the problem that killed her kids continues to spiral out of control. Biden thought he was owning MTG, but he owned himself.

 

Do we think these people who take drugs don't understand the risks involved by this point. Fentanyl cocaine heroine doesn't matter until the root cause is addressed we'll just continue to play musical chairs of what the drug of choice is today. Why are people feeling hopeless and how do we as a society change that. Those are the real questions that everyone is afraid to ask

 

The problem with fentanyl is that it is used to cut other drugs. You go to a dealer and buy the same pill you've been buying for years, but this one time it has a lethal dose of fentanyl in it and not the drug you thought you were taking. It's obviously a risk and people know it is a risk, but addictions are difficult things to overcome.

 

The addiction is the main problem. Why are so many people feeling hopeless enough to turn to drugs that they know or want to severely shorten their life.. what's behind the feeling and what can we do to stop the feeling. Pretending it's just a drug problem and not a mental health problem surely doesn't help those affects by this problem

 

Oh, they have tried but those that die are not listening.

 

Trump should apologize for allowing that to happen under his watch

and MTG should apologize for blaming Biden for something that happened under Trump
