Love this graph... even if Martin Bryant (Port Arthur massacre) might have been a 'proper man.'

Massacring children is not what I mean by 'proper man'. I'm sure you're aware of that, and you're just trying to be insulting. You have to understand though, I must first respect you to be insulted by you.
    I do not.

A neat trick. Now do your rate of violent crime. :)

Yes, I know a 'proper man' to you is a law abiding citizen.
    However
The gun a decent man has is also available to indecent people, who shoot up schools, parties, drive-by shootings and the like.

A proper man to me is a law abiding citizen who 1) votes; 2) remains armed in defense of self and others; 3) exercises judicious marksmanship when required.

All the more reason for the decent man to remain armed. Cops respond in the best of cases in minutes when danger is mere moments away. If you choose to remain defenseless, unable to protect your family, that is on you. Do not presume to prevent me from being ready and able to defend my family and myself.

What? No violent crime stats? Pero porque?

Reality - I can see both sides of this. Unfortunately for every decent and law abiding man there will be the criminal, the idiot, the child etc..
We in Australia don't see many hand guns, either in the hands of decent men and criminals alike. Though I have been asked to go out fox shooting next week !!!!!!

well the vast majority of people who legally own firearms in the USA never use them in an illegal or offensive way so I think your math is a bit off

It’s interesting to note in the 16 year period prior to Port Arthur firearm deaths decreased 46%. After the NFA it looks like about a 55-60% decrease in the following similar length time period.

    https://www.abs.gov.au/AUSSTATS/abs...9C85BD1298C075EACA2568A900139342?OpenDocument

If you factor in replacement of suicide methods like hanging started being reported as accidental deaths and not suicides in about 1997 and accelerating in the early 2000’s, it’s unlikely the NFA had any meaningful effect on actual loss of human life at all.

    https://www.mja.com.au/journal/2010...uicide-australia-rationale-and-program-change

At the end of the day, any positive effect the NFA had is minuscule. And graphs like you presented are a gross misrepresentation because they do not show how fast deaths were already decreasing prior to the NFA. There is a reason the people making those graphs started the data set when they did—to mislead folks. It’s too bad. But I guess if authorities will stoop to reporting hanging suicides as accidental deaths to justify policies anything goes.

Emphasis mine. This is untrue and hyperbolic.

There are over 400m guns in 150m or so private hands. There are some 40k or so deaths by firearm, which includes suicides, accidents, homicide and justifiable shootings.
For your aphorism to hold, there would need to be literally millions of these.
There are not. Ergo: Take a breath.
We in America don't care about the laws on your penal colony.

No, guys walking out on their kids doesn't mean the women are slutty. It means the guys are ass-holes. Why do you pin it on the women?

I do actually. Just came back from Turkey and Israel.

How about you? What do you see when you go out?

It was a simple question, and I didn't say you were racist. You brought race into it, not me.
