Cool then you shouldn’t pretend like making simple changes is beyond the scope of logistical possibility
that depends on which version of the bible one is reading. Children's Bibles are written in a language that most children understand. Most adults can read King James, NIV, American Standard, etc. But reading it and comprehending it are two different things though.
Yes, in China some 1000 years ago during the Tang Dynasty. This was woodblock printing and moveable type was invented a couple of hundred years later. And the link below has the oldest printed texts in the world, older than the Guttenberg Bible. Prior to that date, there was something similar, prior to the Qin dynasty, was a type of printing press with over 3000 characters. When Qin became the first emperor, he had that destroyed. And in china, knowledge was to the privledged, the monks, royalty, and elites, not the common folk, unlike in Europe where printing allowed a faster dissemination of knowledge to the common public. https://blogs.loc.gov/international...as invented over a,of information in its wake.
If the appeal works, so will all the other book bans in that school and state. Be careful what you wish for.
They aren't simple changes. Please tell me where I can find a version of the Bible that contains no mass murder, violence, execution of gays/blasphemers/etc, slavery, rape, etc. Give me the ISBN.
No just how about don't ban either book? If you're that concerned about your kid reading something you don't want them to read, set up a system so that certain kids must get a signed, per title, slip for each book they borrow and others can read whatever the heck they like. In Florida, just eleven complainants have been responsible for more than half of over one thousand book removal requests. This is ridiculous. Why should they get to pick what other parents' kids get to read? Oh that's right because they're (allegedly) mostly organized right wing activists who think they should get to pick what ever everyone else gets to think and learn. Hopefully this action will be copied around the nation so that these dolts can get a taste of their own medicine. https://www.truthorfiction.com/only-11-people-responsible-for-majority-of-book-ban-requests/
“Some of the content”? Do you acknowledge that there are ****ed up parts of the Bible that are not appropriate for kids?
Of course it is... but is it appropriate for 6th graders in a public school library?? Nothing like a little sarcastic push back to point out MAGA ridiculousness.... not that there is any chance that point will be made to those banning simple poems or books about baseball.... Also, I find "tit for tat" a little risque for a public forum... lets keep it clean so all Americans can enjoy...
I love it, the parents did this to show the right how ridiculous they were being, and that by their own rules, the bible had to be removed careful what you wish for republicans, you just might get it.... lol
There is almost always unintended consequences when government gets involved in things like this, and some States like Florida are neck deep involved in stuff like banning books and speech. Did they remove the Book Of Mormon as well? Quran?
Exactly so. Tit for tat by a woke review committee "acting out" as in we will show them. lol To liberals Western Civilization is to be banned.
Always the false equivalence fallacy. So since you want to discuss FL -- should the State of FL allow books describing a male circle jer* for elementary school children. Yes or no?
The Book of Mormon has received a similar complaint and is under review. As much as I don't usually have much truck with religious social-conservatives, it does seem as if, in this instance, they are being impartial in following their own guidelines. So if B.O.M. is found to be similarly potentially offensive, it too will be removed. Personally I think it's all ridiculous. Restricted access to reading materials should be on an elective, per student, basis in my opinion. Not the other way around.
It's actually a very socially-conservative district. I think they are just trying to be impartial in following their own rules. Parent complains, they examine the basis of the complaint and if found meritorious, book is removed.
