Well, from my Mom since I was very little. She was a devout Catholic. My father on the other hand wasn't much of one. I suspect he was actually an atheist but would not disclose it, not to aggravate his beloved wife. I remember that at age 11 I was upset with Bible School and didn't want to go as I didn't believe in everything they were saying. My Mom was outraged and devastated but my Dad sustained that if I didn't want to go, I didn't have to go given that he was for respecting people's intellectual choices (and he thought that even an 11-year-old child was a full person and should be listened to) and thought that forcing it on me would only turn me off even more. Given that our family was quite Father-centered as my Mom who loved him dearly respected him a lot and tended to ultimately accept his opinions, he ended up prevailing and I was allowed to drop out of Bible School. I continued to explore my relationship with the Divine but outside of the organized dogma of the Church. So the history repeats; I am now married to a woman who is also a devout Catholic while I stay a bit outside. I do go with her to Church on special occasions like Easter and Christmas and the odd Sunday here and there but I don't go every Sunday like she does, or used to do. During and after the pandemic, she got in the habit of following the mess online, and I do watch with her from time to time. I don't really miss the Church. I am a bit reserved and I don't like to share my faith with others or talk much about it so Church services are not really my thing. I never developed a strong relationship with priests. The whole practice of confessions, for example, doesn't seem important to me. I am not really a big sinner... I live my life with integrity and morality; for example, I'm absolutely faithful to my wife, I am very ethical at work, and I generally try my best to do good and charitable things. I don't need to be in a big building with hundreds of other people, listening to a priest, in order to live the righteous life that I practice.

Thanks for the reply. I had to smile when I read about your parents. My mother was very devout Catholic and I always suspected my father went just to please her. After the pedophile accusations my mother never saw the Catholic Church the same way. Her faith has never been the same. I started questioning the whole confession thing and usually lied about things because I really couldn't think of anything. I would confess I pushed my sister off of her bike or I made my little brother cry. I imagine the priest was grinning as he probably heard that a lot from kids. I am old enough to remember when the sermon was done in Latin. Didn't make much sense if the purpose was to teach the life of Jesus. I also started wondering why we were calling priest Father. That goes against everything I read in the Bible. My father was in the military so we attended Mass on base. My wife of 30 years is a Christian also and goes to Church with friends. Like you I prefer to seek answers outside of organized religions. I remember attending a Baptist Church and was a bit annoyed at hearing the pastor constantly saying we were all sinners. I asked why that is because I wanted to learn more about the Bible. I received a very informative answer, church is the first step to reaching out to new members and after that further studies were available like Bible study. I'm reserved as well preferring to stay home and work around the house. My wife is more outgoing. I retired from the Coast Guard in 2002 and worked until 55 when I called it quits. I'm 67 now. I would like to talk with you via private messaging. Would that be okay?

    Unlike you, I don’t make claims I can’t support.

Trolling is making false claims then attacking someone who challenges you to support the claim. You do that.

You didn’t source anything. Now you’re just making stuff up.

There’s no such nation. How can you recognize a nation which doesn’t exist?

However, Israel did agree to recognize the Palestinian Authority. .

It works fine. And you're digging yourself deeper and deeper in being humiliated by denying there is something like a Palestinian state.

A state is just words unless is actually controls its territory and has a functional capital.

So from that perspective, the State of Palestine doesn't really exist. Its like saying the Republic of Poland existed between 1939 and 1945, when we all know it really did not.

Palestine is a region or territory. There never has been a nation, country or kingdom called Palestine. There is no such nation today called Palestine. Those are all facts.

This sickens me Bob. I don't know a lot about you but this post tells a lot. You think gauging out the eyes of babies, raping grandmothers, mowing down teenagers, throwing grenades at families in bomb shelters, taking hostages are the work of "your angels"? Another thing I know about you hate "Christians". You also hate Jews. At least you are honest. Now we can get to work!

<….Then you lie about what was said. I called Evangelical "Christians" Satan-worshippers and I think calling them people is questionable>

    Or more moronic.

    This describes Israel.
Yes, I hate fake "Christians" who think ethnic cleansing is A-OK. You know who else hate these "Christians"? Jesus.
The stupid and ignorant conflate Jews and Israel.

I will not work to support the ethnic cleansing of Palestine which Israel desires.

Oh yes, I suggest reading this book.

Everyone who hates Jews refuses to read the book because the book is written by an Israeli Jew.

I guess you won't read it either.
