One thing that stands out in the news is the contradictions:
3 of the snippets say Russian forces are losing

while the bottom left snippet says 'Berlin comes next'.
suggesting Russian forces will wipe out the Ukrainian forces
and Polish forces and get well into Germany.

All of those snippets were on the same day: 2023 October 23,

A lot more contradictions appear by comparing news then and now.

In Dec 2022 Zelensky announced to a joint session of Congress:
Dec 21, 2022 — After a round of applause ended, Zelenskyy said, "It gives me
great pleasure to share our first joint victory: We defeated Russia in the minds...

Zelensky primed the audience that his was an announcement of
our victory, and included in the announcement that just another
60,000 million dollars in weapons would make it all come true.

    Of course it didn't.

On Oct 6 2023 Congress agreed on another 113,000 million dollars in weapons
and to 'support democracy', not that Zelensky is in favor of elections, but I
don't think that is considered important.

The MSM tells the basic truth a lot of the time, but they manipulate, distort, and "massage" that same truth to fit the poltical bias their liberal functionaries support. Just as bad, they flat-out IGNORE a lot of important things that should be making screaming headlines, but get 'swept under the rug', or cast into the 'outer-darkness' altogether.

Example: the MSM will report quite truthfully that according to the Federal Reserve inflation rose X-percent, and that will be a true statement. But, they won't go into why the way the Fed determines what is and what is not inflationary is really just a bunch of arbitrary fiction which was cherry-picked by central bankers to create one kind of impresson on very impressionable, unquestioning, gullible Americans....

If you've leased an apartment, been to your dentist, bought anything in a supermarket besides eggs, gotten your notice of next year's property tax valuation, shopped in a hardware store, or signed up for health care coverage in 2024, or done a hundred other things, you know exactly what I mean! Where are all the "news" stories about any of THAT?!

Time Magazine reported: One of Zelensky's closest aides tells Shuster that,
“He is delusional. We're out of options. We're not winning. But try telling him that.”

A year and a bit ago Time Magazine had declared Zelensky as Person of the Year,
but the public has heard all the lies a few times too many and it is time to move on
    to the next war.

    • Does the US M.S.M. tell the truth?

    ~ Is this a trick question .. ?
~ It is almost always about what they do not tell us rather than what they do tell us ...

That is a big part of the problem, they will tell us that approximately 50,000 Russian servicemen have been killed,
but neglect to tell us that approximately 500,000 Ukrainian servicemen have also died.

The US mainstream media, being owned by very conservative corporations, always reports with a heavy conservative slant. The MSM especially adores pushing DemocratsAreDoomed stories.

I am enjoying watching CNN, the NYT and the Washington Post all crying after Democrats romped in the elections. It's amusing to see how they try to spin Democrats winning so big to mean the DemocratsAreStillDoomed. They have to. Close horse races and dishonest bothersiderism earn them money. Being moral and honest doesn't earn them money.

Meanwhile, Ukraine is still romping over the RussoNazis, and no amount of Kremlin propaganda here will change that.

"Truth" is very difficult to find. "Fact" is not synonymous. Most people conflate fact with truth, when they are not the same thing. One cannot arrive at "Truth" by listening to propaganda, even if the propaganda outlet is 100% factual in its reporting. You never get the whole story, you only get the portion of the story that supports the narrative.

I chose "Other answer" only because "No." was not an option.

Yes, I guess I should have included 'No' as an option because the MSM aka Legacy Media, has
been bought out by the groups that own the weapons makers, and therefore work for them.

Usually, if we exclude Fox News. Other than "opinion" programs though, it's mostly lies of omission even on Fox. Verifiable lies in theory could turn off moderate viewers. I don't think they're big into promoting weapons programs - I think their focus is on catering to their target audience. Campaign bribes, I mean contributions, are more the drivers of policy in American plutocracy.

Though the echo chamber phenomenon has certainly made things worse by contributing to the destruction of bipartisan politics.

One thing I've been curious about is how the MSM will walk back their claim that
'Ukraine' (western, central and some other bits of what was Ukraine in Jan 2022)
is winning and romping over the Russians and what not.

When they have been losing all along.

The main stream media is good for one thing: reporting the weather. Remember that.

Media is a for profit business.
They cover and write stories that cater to their audience.
The more audience, the more they can charge for advertising. The more profit they can make.

There's a few reliable unbiased sources.

I'm tired of nobody caring what MY money gets spent on. I'm just generally tired of it being wasted, corruptly spent, or spent on things that are not a concern to the US. I get it, we bribe the occasional warlord and call "aid". That's fine; it's cheaper than war and more effective than "please". But the US has literally no known interest, in who wins the Ukraine war. Putin could take the entire country, and it means literally nothing to the US. I feel like without Clintons' RUSSIA RUSSIA RUSSIA hoax, US citizens wouldn't be so gung ho about fighting a proxy war with Russia. Imagine something that stupid, leading to so much more bloodshed...

I think both left and right, have fair complaints about that middle section. The Hill is more biased than maybe anyone on the list, they just have bias from both sides. But each article could not be more biased, one way or the other. I can't hardly read their stuff, the lingo spins it all so hard, even when they spin my direction.

I think we learned during the pandemic, that none of them can be "trusted". It used to be you could read the facts, and disregard the spin. But they just flat lie now, at every outlet, and the pubic doesn't seem willing to hold them accountable when they do.

Rule of thumb, believe 1/2 of what you see and none of what you hear/read.
    Verify verify verify.
I still trust sources like NPR, BBC, AP ect. But never just go with a single source.

If you think there has ever been even ONE day of honest reporting, by any outlet in the world, in the history of the world, you are so lost.....so, so lost....

What do you base that statement on? Where do you get the sources to base that on?

If you did verify verify verify you would not trust those sources.
I recall when the BBC broadcast something the govt didn't want broadcast, both the Director of the BBC
and the Chairman were fired because the BBC is ultimately run by the govt.

The media generally tell the truth. The exception, of course, is the reporting of anything contrary to its political ideology.
