Virtue signalinging is all the do nothing GOP does. Since they have won the house, they have not accomplished one thing that benefits Americans. All they do is kiss mango's stinky ass.

    Sad

You don't expect Trump adoring rightists to actually read the bill, do ya? They have their mango hero along with Trump's worthless cucks in the House telling them what they want them to believe.

The fundamental challenge for strong political candidates considering a third-party run lies in the formidable electoral infrastructure and resources that the two major parties possess. These established parties offer a comprehensive support system, including nationwide offices, extensive voter databases, significant funding channels, and established voter bases—all critical components for a successful campaign. Consequently, even highly viable candidates recognize that their prospects for winning are significantly higher within this established framework.

This dynamic leads to a situation where predominantly less prominent candidates venture into third-party bids, which often struggle to gain momentum due to these structural disadvantages. Notable figures, such as Bernie Sanders, exemplify this trend. Despite having a substantial following that might have supported a third-party campaign, Sanders chose to run for president under the Democratic Party's banner. His decision underscores the pragmatic recognition that leveraging the party's existing machinery—its organizational framework, funding apparatus, and voter outreach capabilities—vastly outweighs the herculean task of assembling such resources independently.

The case of Ross Perot remains an exception rather than a norm, highlighting the extraordinary financial and personal resources required to mount a competitive third-party campaign. However, even with significant investment, third-party candidates face systemic barriers, including limited access to debates and stringent ballot access laws, further diminishing their chances of success.

In essence, the strategic calculus for strong candidates invariably leads them back to the two major parties, reflecting not only the practical considerations of campaigning but also the deeply ingrained two-party system that shapes American electoral politics.

It all started with the framers, who chose a bicameral system instead of a parliamentary one, which, perhaps unpredictable to them, resulted in and was conducive to, our current two party structure. Given this fact, I don't think a coalition multi-party government is even possible. I mean, look at how long the Libertarians have been trying, and they have barely scratched the surface in public recognition, and they've been at it since, what, about 1980 or so?

Seriously, it was an Open Borders Demokrat wet dream - a continuing tsunami of migrants and pallets of taxpayer cash to pay for it - and that's why it got shot down.

If Biden & Co. were interested in border security they would have never issued the 64 EOs that opened the border in the first place, but obviously they're not interested in border security, and that's why Biden won't rescind the EOs now.

It's little wonder Demokrats like Eric Adams are getting all fearful and angry - President Puddinwits won't rescind his open borders EOs and Mean Man Mike won't give them the federal taxpayer cash they're demanding.

The double punch of the scuttling of the immigration bill and then this shows the house reps complete capitulation to Trump. Sad.

    Perhaps, more than three.

What's stopping us, Daniel? I left both parties years ago.

I like our (Aussie) preferential system. It basically permits a voter to say "if I can't get my first choice elected, then I want my vote to go to X". It means that people can vote for 'third party' candidates and know that their vote won't be entirely wasted, as it usually is in the US. It also means that the major parties have to pay heed, to some extent, to the policies of those minor parties.

The EOs opened the border, and all the "humanitarian" window dressing you put on it doesn't change that fact.

You're operating on the erroneous premise that we have some sort of obligation to serve as the world's dumping ground when we don't.

How is it moral to take resources away from the needy that are already here, Pat?

How is it moral to drive cities that are already wallowing in debt further into debt?

How is it moral to add to billions if not trillions of more dollars to our $34 trillion national debt and the $212 trillion in unfunded liabilities that younger Americans are going to have to pay off on account of Joe Biden's reckless and irresponsible open border policy?

Here's a hint: None of that and a lot more is moral

    What a worthless sentiment.

What we must do is face reality, and what the Biden Admin is doing now is the worst that can be done, and it's not sustainable.

Wrong. What must happen is an end to the crisis that Biden & Co. orchestrated.

You act like we have unlimited resources in this country, that we're still living in the Golden Age of the 1950s and 60s. We're not.

Republicans should not fund our unserious president's reckless and irresponsible open borders policy, and since Biden won't exercise the authority he has to reverse his reckless and irresponsible policy this issue will get kicked to the ballot box. So be it, and until then Biden can own his policy and its consequences.

They aren’t wasted here. Your vote just goes to someone who loses. Otherwise, all the votes for Kerry were wasted, votes for McCain were wasted, votes for Romney were wasted, votes for Hillary were wasted(I can go on but I think you get my point). It’s that mindset that keeps us with the two major parties having things pretty much on lock down.

Now my personal vote is somewhat wasted. Who I vote for will not win and cannot take office as she is dead(Ann Richards). It’s a form of protest against the crap we have to choose from(and I also believe her dead body can do a better job than the crap we get) so in that aspect, it’s not wasted at all.

Cruel to who? You think all the kids coming over and being human trafficked by the cartels is humane? I always love when an Aussy discusses American immigration. Maybe we should adopt the offshore immigrant detention centers you have, or maybe the mandatory and unlimited detention your country has for illegal maritime arrivals.

I am happy that they impeached Mayorkas. I would be even happier if Mayorkas was arrested and tried for treason. His actions with regards to the border have been treasonous... as have Biden's. Just because you carry water for him doesn't mean that he hates you one iota less than he hates me.

If it goes to "someone who loses", then it's essentially worthless (other than as a protest?). By that, I mean that it won't have any effect on the result. In a preferential system, the 'loser's' votes are redistributed to the remaining candidates, based upon the second preferences. So, your 'losing' vote could still have an effect on who will be the eventual winner. You are right, in that we also have two parties that dominate the field, but they still have to give attention to the policies of the minor parties, because of that redistribution effect.

I cannot get behind the opinion that voting for Hillary in 16 was a wasted vote for those who voted for her.

While I’m not opposed to the ranked choice system, we don’t have that. I must work within the FPTP system.

Yes, the impeachment was not expected to get him fired. It was just a way to make a statement. There are more efficient ways to make statements. And, of course, Mayorkas doesn't make policy, the white house does. He did what he was told. They impeached the wrong man.

Yup. Their is much proof that Mayorkas was doing the job Biden wanted him to do, not that he disagreed with Biden. Mayorkas was all in. But, since they can indict Trump and everyone else along with him as well as arrest Jan 6th mostly peaceful protesters just because they were there, then both Biden and Mayorkas should pay the price for refusing to follow federal laws, which they are sworn to uphold.

I think you're mistaken. As in the amnesty program was an EO from Biden. But you do you. Illegal invasion is still that. This is you clapping for it, and the human trafficking continues. Who said progressive folks were against slavery? This is living proof.

None the less, the GOP doesn’t really care, even though the topic triggers you, and the rest of Trump nation.

Trump ordered his lickspittles to UNDERMINE any chance at an immigration deal. Insisting on their way or the highway. (When did that ever work?).

So, now the GOP owns the fact that they are sitting on immigration reform, nad sitting on it for not other reason than it is the wish of their beloved fuhrer.

Then they followed that up by impeaching Myorkis for nothing in particular, so they could set up another set of show trial hearings. That hasn’t been working for them either.

Myorkis, of course, will never go to trial. There won’’t be a trial.

The objective is to put a show on for the Fox Noise audience.

And promote Mexihate to a receptive and openly racist audience.
