Arizona prosecutor refuses to extradite suspect in NYC hotel slaying, saying Manhattan DA can't be trusted An Arizona prosecutor said Wednesday that her office will not extradite the man accused of killing a woman in a New York City hotel, calling out Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's "treatment of violent criminals." Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell told reporters in Arizona that she's ordered her staff not to cooperate in any efforts to send Raad Noan Almansoori, 26, back to New York where he's wanted in connection to the slaying of Denisse Oleas-Arancibia, 38. I have never seen a State refuse to extradite a murderer because they claim the receiving DAs reputation. Too funny
Do Soros backed DAs have a crappy reputation or what? Below is a link to this story. .............................. “I know there’s been discussion about New York wanting to extradite this individual,” Mitchell said during a press conference. “This is not aimed at the New York Police Department at all. I know they did a hard job and they did a good job. But we will not be agreeing to extradition. “I’ve instructed my extradition attorneys not to agree to that,” she said. “We’re gonna keep him here. These are mandatory prison sentences. Having observed the treatment of violent criminals in the New York area by the Manhattan DA there, Alvin Bragg, I think it’s safer to keep him here. “And keep him in custody so that he cannot be out doing this to individuals either in our state, county or anywhere in the United States.” https://nypost.com/2024/02/21/us-ne...pect-in-brutal-soho-hotel-murder-back-to-nyc/
What is the problem Arizona can hand home over after he serves his time in Arizona. The is a good chance Arizona will have him serve time long there than in New York anyway. Since murder has no statue of limitations they can charge him when he is released.
Kind of silly and political theater. He can be tried and convict in both states and serve his first sentence in AZ. Would the. be transferred to NY upon release to serve his sentence from the State of NY after he serves his time in AZ.
Although I don't care for the 'soft' approach toward violent crime with some of the more liberal regions, I think this is political stunt being played by the DA in Arizona. There is no reason that he can't be extradited, face trial, sentencing, etc. and be returned to Arizona. There is one positive aspect of the delay of extradition: It will make whatever sentence he receives naturally consecutive.
Perhaps what the Arizona DA has a concern with is that NY may release him on low cash bail till the trial. Weeks or months on the street to do something else. "Almansoori had been arrested in April 2023 in Florida on a charge of kidnapping and sexual assault, and he was free after posting bail in September, Kenny said." It already happened before. This guy needs to be on no bail period.
Good points! I can see that being a factor. Fortunately, I'm no expert on bail and trials, but seems like if he was remanded in Arizona, then moved to NY, they wouldn't let him out on bond in NY until his sentence/trial was held in Arizona, but it seems like it could be a concern. I know we have a lot of people in prison in America, and there are some 'experiments' around the country on how to deal with criminals, but this case seems to show that violent criminals shouldn't be experimented with...........unless it's a new way to execute them! J/K, sort of Too many do not turn themselves around when they are let out. And it's not like selling drugs or stolen goods. This individual doesn't seem like he really wants to assimilate into our society.
Meanwhile, memories fad, evidence deteriorates, etc. Murder trumps assault. Arizona has no legal right to deny extradition. Ms. Mitchell is grandstanding.
And rightly so. Hell, this person should have already been in jail in NYC but they let him out then. Now they want him back. For what? Just so they can let him go all over again?
He was arrested in New York and let go, making it to Arizona where he was arrested and now New York wants him back when they should have kept him in the first place so that he didn't make it to Arizona. Now Arizona won't give him back because they can't trust New York to keep the guy locked up.
Almansoori is no stranger to law enforcement, with a rap sheet that spans multiple states outside New York, primarily for domestic violence and assault. ... Despite repeated arrests, including being jailed 13 times in three years in Maricopa County alone, Almansoori's violent tendencies seemed only to intensify. https://bnnbreaking.com/courts-law/...ee-the-alarming-trail-of-raad-noan-almansoori The Maricopa County prosecutor might be a little more modest about her own county's ability to keep criminals in jail. Almansoori's record of being in and out of jails across the country, as described in the article, indicates that catch and release is a national problem. The cause may be ideology in some places and capacity in others. There is probably also a lack of coordination across state lines so that repeat offenders can be identified and incarcerated.
Was he arrested in NYC, or did he flee to Arizona before they even identified him? I could look it up, but I think it's your point to prove.
I deny nothing. You claimed or implied that Almansoori had been arrested in NYC and then released. Since I find no information about that NYC arrest, I'm asking you to share your source. This is not an attack. It is a request for information.
The migrant accused of killing Georgia nursing student Laken Riley illegally entered the US in 2022 — and was cut loose when there was no space for him in a detention center, according to a report. Jose Antonio Ibarra, 26, who was arrested Friday in connection to the murder of the 22-year-old Augusta University student, crossed into El Paso, Texas, from Venezuela in September 2022, NewsNation reported Saturday, citing Department of Homeland Security sources. He had been released due to a lack of detention space, the sources added. Months before Ibarra allegedly killed Riley, he was apparently arrested in New York for endangering a child, according to NewsNation.
It would be crazy for a female person in office to release some guy that attacked women in her state over to New York. She would never get elected again with them on how they do things on trial and let people go.
