Pornhub has been doing the same thing to folks in Virginia for a year. You can VPN around it if you are that interested in seeing pornhub content....or you could go to one of the other porn tube sites that aren't particularly interested in compliance.

VPN work for now, but once uncle Sam gets involved it wont.. For starters, they will lay the responsibility on ISP's from there it will all change..

Or parents could just do their job and keep their children off these sites but instead republicans want government to be the parent.

I have noticed lately pretty much all republican cheered government intrusion to ban things their made up religious beliefs are against are under the guise of “protecting children”.

What did y’all do when churches were shown to literally be moving child molesters around so they could harm the maximum number of kids? Oh, y’all passed y’all’s saying clergy were exempt from child rape reporting.

No they don't .. what a perverse thing to state .. and irrationality beyond. If you want the state to be completely responsible for raising your child .. you are welcome to your happy collectivist progressive hard left belief that Gov't knows better than you in everything. Just because one does not share this communist perspective .. parents taking it upon themselves to be responsible the online content the child is exposed to ... .. including monitoring what the State might be trying to ram at our nations children .. doesn't equate to Grooming pedophilia ? What ridiculous , perverse and irrational mixed up perspective.

You want me to explain how VPNs work? I'll pass.

Well.. that's progress. I remember back in the day you used to say that VPN's were NOT "some sort of protection"

Uncle Sam has ZERO interest in busting teenager masturbation practices. Only fascists in states like Texas or Florida would even lift a finger for that. Having said that, if Trump is elected we WOULD have a fascist in the federal government... maybe forever... So... who knows what the future holds.

    ACTUALLY...

    It is Pornhub banning Texas.

Now one wonders if this will result in thousands of Texans rushing the Mexican border to get to the Boys Towns to satisfy their puritanical urges?

    Layman?

You'd be better off using some college student or other private server than some registered for profit provider.. But I'm sure you know how underground IP masking works ;)

Uncle Sam is always interested in commercial companies and their money.. Proxy servers are a booming business ATM because of stupid people and fear mongering..

The point I'm making is the ONLY one hiding your Ip is sometimes some yoyo with a couple of desktops reassignment incoming addresses and forwarding it to its primary target..

I don't particularly like the government getting involved in the internet at all but I'm struggling to find a reason to have an issue with this particular decision. This is no more "government" than me being required to show ID to buy booze. I could make the argument that it's the responsibility of the parents to prevent their teenagers from getting booze but I don't think removing that requirement is very popular.

The government already goes after folks big time for giving minors access to adult content in society (clubs, bars, tobacco, alcohol, etc) so I don't really see this as any different. In fact this is less strict than what is required for brick and mortar establishments. They aren't trying to ban Pornhub, they are just saying age verification is required. If a bar gets caught serving alcohol to underage persons then they're losing their liquor license or worse. If they treated pornhub like they treat businesses in the real world then that entire site would be shut down by the government because we all know one of their primary consumer bases is teenage boys.

It cant be considered commerce unless you buy something ? If your buying the access from a provider thats in your state, THEY are the ones conducting the commerce not you

I have been an email admin and delivery engineer for years. Your ISP is not geofencing the receiving ISP, because that in no way identifies the actual recipient. I guarantee that even if your mail POP is local, they have 100 others that are not, and your MTA can distribute the email to any of a hundred other MTA’s

I'm just telling you what the New Mexico Public Relation Commission told me. I've worked in cable TV most of my life and received a lot of complaints from the PRC/PUC - depending on the state I was in at the time - so I have to defer to what they told me about my problem. What got my problem fixed was an email to the city manager who usually has someone who works as a liaison between the utilities and the customer and my problem was fixed the next day.

One more thing - I was able to send emails via cellular data but not through Comcast's network. I have no expertise in that area, mine is in field operations, so I don't know what resolved my issue and I'd really like to know. Any ideas?

When my brother lived in the Columbus OH area, they had competing cable companies, and his service was almost immaculate and a whole lot more channels. My town is just Comcast, not even FIOS.

I recall the old days when I worked in northern NJ and we had several dual franchise cities - it was good for the customer because they had choices and it was good for the cities because both cable companies paid them franchise fees.

When did you brother live in the Ohio area? To have dual cable franchises I'm guessing it was a long time ago because many of the large cable companies either gobbled up the smaller ones or merged with each other. These days the biggies are Comcast, Cox, and Spectrum.

I doubt this will prevent minors from accessing this content. Government interference is not necessary.

From what you just said about being able to send via cellular, there was most likely a routing issue.

Going back to what we were talking about earlier, this is the email I received from the PRC. I don't know why they called my complaint informal because I formally made that complaint.

Having dealt with teenagers for decades now, they can and will find a way to access it no matter what kinda blocks the government or indeed anyone puts in their way. Just this school year alone I've caught more than a few using their cells to look at this sorta stuff in the classroom - although I think some of them wanted to be caught.

The horror. You have to prove you're an adult to surf porn.... It's like they said you have to be a citizen to vote.... Progressive minds are blowing up around the country.
