'Close' the border is a poor choice of wording. There is a lot of legit trade and tourism that happens across the border. We need to 'secure' it so as much legit activity can happen with little impedance, and as much illegit activity can be stopped, as possible. This requires perpetual monitoring, personnel for rapid response and some sort of physical barrier (some might call it a 'wall') to impede the progress of trespassers and make them easier to apprehend. The hardest part will be convincing our corrupt congresscritters that we can prosper as a nation without 'sheltering' all the words poor and using them for cheap labor and an ignorant voting block. Without this critical step, the rest will not help much.
Very true. Close the Southern border is inaccurate, Secure is accurate. This is an extensive problem with the language we use. The politicians and media lie extensively and a lot of it is just by choice of words. The public knows this but falls for it nonetheless. It is difficult to say we spend almost a trillion dollars a year on 'offense', but easy though inaccurate to say we spend it on 'defense'.
The OP seems to ignore one of the biggest problems of which we (collectively) are to blame. How about we stop hiring illegals?! No job, no reason to come here. But that will never happen. Business owners will always seek to maximize profits, which they have every right to, as such they will continue to hire cheaper labor where they can. We are our own worst enemy.
They've never actually thought about it. Thinking things through is not in their skill set. Their skills consist only of doing what party honchos tell them, and ask no questions.

Overall we shouldn't be creating horrible conditions in other countries, which you are right to say forces them to move out of their own country. But I would suggest it might be more a matter of leaving them alone than of 'helping'.

Its not impossible. We almost did it with 2012 Immigration reform, and again this year, but the bills were turned down by the Republican House. One day a day will come when Congress wants to close it, and they it will be closed. Imagine if the 2012 bill had been passed. We'd have a wall on the border, and a whole lot more border agents, electronic surveillance etc.

Vote Biden out of office. That is only way to start to fix the border mess. Biden has no intention of fixing it. He wants all the illegals who cross the border to keep coming. If he didn't, he wouldn't be taking the Texas State Government to court to prevent them for doing the job the Federal Government refuses to do.
