Wouldn't it be a good thing for this bridge to get fixed sooner rather than later? Why would it bother some if the feds stepped in to get the build going sooner than later? Wouldn't that be a GOOD thing???

They most certainly can and at least one tanker has. One of the ships is going to unload its Baltimore cargo in Virginia. Who’s to say that in the future, some of these companies aren’t going to get used to a new routine, maybe a better experience and bypass Baltimore all together.

We need to get that debris cleaned up and open up the waterway before temporary ports become permanent ports. We are already a city in crisis, we don’t need the loss of even more jobs

What issue? Pointing out that the port can be opened back up quickly? Perhaps you failed to read the thread, but ok. Taking a random swipe does seem to be your method. Do you feel that the Biden folks aren't open for any critique of their response?

It will create a few problems and delays, that much is certain.

With that being said, I am just not so sure it is as dire for a would-be car buyer as saying "you better pray...".

I understand if you are waiting for a car that is currently in that port you may be waiting for the next shipment, but for someone buying an imported car in 3 months, I don't think this will affect them all that much.

Who said that they shouldn't? I know I didn't suggest that. So why try to make an inference that isn't there? Why not start with the priority of getting the port reopened? The bridge can get built. These aren't mutually exclusive priorities.

No one said such, which is why I didn’t claim anyone did. But if we wait on the lawyers for the insurance companies who knows how long it would take the get this going.
I believe the bridge and ship is blocking entry to the port so getting going on the bridge….which includes removing what is in the water…would be a good thing.

I would assume that the clean-up and rebuild will start ASAP. I cannot imagine anyone suggesting a delay.
