So is the rest of the packaging. You must admit: we don't exactly have any evidence that there has been any kind of harm from this or that people are actually struggling to understand.

The meat producers want less competition.

Like I said before, people can read the labels. This law exists for the sole purpose of protecting Iowa's meat producers from competition. The meat imitations are all clearly labeled.

This is honestly reminding me of a time in the past when there was an attempt to have prune farmers relabel all of their prunes as "dried plums."

Prunes are dried plums. Do people actually get confused about that? I must be getting really old.

But there's no reason to believe consumers don't know. These products are specifically promoted on the basis that they're different and given that they're typically more expensive, they're not going to want to compete directly with the "mainstream" products.

Again, if the concern was consumers, why would they limit it to such a specific and very small set of products? Shouldn't there already be a legal requirement that all products are accurately and honestly labelled?

this law makes sure the labels tell what the consumer is eating, especially with things like Lab Grown Meat

are some afraid fewer people wouldn't eat it if they knew it was not real meat or milk?

If they are clearly labeled already, this is not an issue for them

we all know how well GMO Fruits and Vegetables are labeled - are they afraid fewer people would eat them?

remember when they modified corn, would of been nice for consumers to know that

    https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6451741/

"Diarrhea, dementia, dermatitis, and death are the signature 4 Ds of the now rare entity known as pellagra. Pellagra was once a national epidemic that baffled doctors and researchers. Between 1906 and 1940, approximately three million Americans developed pellagra, with 100,000 of these cases fatal (Rajakumar, 2000). Initially, the disease was believed to be a type of food poisoning that was caused by corn, and it took more than 30 years and one unwavering doctor to unravel the mystery of pellagra. "

Ironic was smokers were less effected

"Men who rolled/chewed tobacco were somewhat protected; subsequently, tobacco was found to be a source of vitamin B."

This is just a stunt by the meat industry to try to advance a narrative that meat is superior. I'm 99% vegetarian, and I just looked in my freezer and every package, from multiple vendors has either the word "Meatless", "Veggie" or "Plant-Based" clearly printed on the label. Remember - Heart Disease is still the #1 cause of death in America.

nope, that was fake research conducted with fast food, it was the bread and French fries fried in seed oils causing the cancer

if you eat meat with bad foods, it will be bad, but it's not the meat

    carbs in fact feed cancer....

    https://endeavor.moffitt.org/archive/do-sugar-carbs-and-other-inflammatory-foods-feed-cancer/

"Higher carbohydrate intake may also stimulate insulin secretion, which not only accelerates glucose uptake by cancer cells, but also stimulates the rapid reproduction of cancer cells."

Not a study I brought up. And I only mentioned heart disease, not cancer. Many meats are very high in saturated fats and cholesterol, the primary risk factors for heart disease. But I will agree that there are foods such as french fries that are worse.
