yes, and with 10 times the GDP of the Russian Federation,
and ten times their defense spending, we can't win a proxy
    war against them.

that's how much our GDP means in real life.

You don't need to rely on the expertise and integrity of Congress.

You just need to use your expertise to get them to do what you want.

You can start by telling them how significant it is and how much worse it can get.

That's how the system is designed to work.

Give it a shot. Good luck.

so does that mean you are going to vote for Trump in the general election? I suspect not so your claim is a bit disingenuous

According to US intelligent agency, in past 2 years 350K+ Russian Soldiers died in Ukraine. US aid to Ukraine is 75 billion USD.

That is in real life GDP.

I don't think its silly. People love to rave against "evil, crime ridden blue crap holes" aka American metro areas which are typically ran by Dems. They just happen to generate 85% of US economic output. NYC metro, which is the populist RW punching bag generates more than the nation of Canada. At the same time many deep red areas are the poorest in the nation.

Is the economic success in blue areas due "liberal policies"? Is poverty in read areas do to "Republicans policies"? Why doesn't capitalism work in Red areas? The argument is that everything negative about these metro areas is due to "liberal policies", so why not apply the same line of thinking to positive things? It is too much to admit that things like crime will happen in cities/metro areas regardless of politics, and same is true about economic output. Crime concentrates in cities, and so do job creating corporations. It doesn't matter if they are blue or red.

Maybe you should be asking why Republicans can't run big cities.

Not to mention that all sorts of social issues that right wingers love to rant about in cities (read black and brown people) are just as prevalent in the red states. High infant mortality, children having children, poor education, crime, drug use, all exist in poor white communities.

When I take an interest in a subject, I read all about it. From a variety of sources, left and right leaning. That way I know I have a fairly good handle on the subject. Only then will I wade into offering my opinion here at PF. I didn't realize it was my job to educate others. If I use content from an article I will post the link. But posting countless links just to bring others up to speed isn't what I see as my responsibility.

As for the solution, hell yes I think that the government should step in. If we are getting screwed over by a sector - especially when it is such a vital sector to our population's health and survival - I expect that the government should act on our behalf.

big cities tend to have the most public teats and thus attract dependent people who vote for Democrats. the suburbs-the homes cost too much for welfare recipients

What "public teats" do people in cities have that are not available in red States like Alabama? Most people know the cities are typically the most expensive areas to live in US. They produce the most economic output, pay highest salaries, and have highest cost of living, and typically also highest crime.

I believe that rural areas have higher percentages of poverty than urban areas but urban areas have far more people

Of course, and hence more crime, traffic, noise, and.....jobs. Its the nature of the beast, - not Blue or Red, and it's same in any country. It started with the "industrial revolution". People moved to the cities because that's where the jobs were and when it comes to the pros vs cone, - they just sucked it up when it came to the cons. What else are you gonna do? Cincinnati is kind of cool, - I lived there when I was in my mid 20s but they had some pretty rough areas, with crack dealers in every street corner, not to mention across the river, which was total 'wild west', full of strip joints and loud bars (New Port and Covington). I hear they re-built it so it might be a thing of the past. This was in mid 90s.

New York City was pretty cool in the late 1970s even though the crime rate was high. I sorta lived there with a girl friend. I don't think I'd want to live there now. It's easier to get along when you are much younger.

The people who makes more then 100K lives in Blue congressional district. The people who make less then 40K and live on government handout, they live in RED congressional district.

You still think those who live on government hand out vote for DEMS?

No, actually most of the people in my neighborhood are military or retired military. It's true though. Some people in the military get paid so badly that they are one food stamps, I've heard.

you seem to think no one votes for the GOP. why do you vote for Dems. One of the reasons I vote for the GOP is I tire of being told people like me don't pay enough taxes when we pay almost half the income taxes in the USA

Crime in NYC was far worse in the 1970s than now, but you are right about younger people being able to just go with the flow.

    Here are the facts

After the Midterms, One Party Controls All the Wealthiest Congressional Districts (yahoo.com)
50 Wealthiest Congressional Districts in the US

Biden-voting counties equal 70% of America’s economy. What does this mean for the nation’s political-economic divide? (brookings.edu)

    Another Clinton-Trump divide: High-output America vs low-output America (brookings.edu)

Election 2020: Democratic counties represent 70% of U.S. GDP (cnbc.com)

America has two economies—and they’re diverging fast (brookings.edu)

Underlying these changes have been eye-popping shifts in economic performance. Democratic-voting districts have seen their GDP per seat grow by a third since 2008, from $35.7 billion to $48.5 billion a seat, whereas Republican districts saw their output slightly decline from $33.2 billion to $32.6 billion.
