I've written on a number of occasions about the normalization of what previously was considered abhorrent behavior, primarily by the MAGA god. How has it become normalized? Primarily because it was not prevented from continuing in its infancy by Repubs. Now they have created an atmosphere allowing for Russian propaganda to be repeated by Repub elected officials. Arguably something that began when Trump took Putin's side on the matter of election interference in Helsinki.

Intel Chair Turner: ‘Absolutely true’ that Russian propaganda has infected US Congress

House Intelligence Committee Chair Mike Turner (R-Ohio) stressed the expansive reach of Russian propaganda and said Sunday it has even presented itself on the floor of the U.S. Congress.

In an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union” with Jake Tapper, Turner said he agreed with Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas), chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, who singled out conservative news outlets and said, “Russian propaganda has made its way into the United States, unfortunately, and it’s infected a good chunk of my party’s base.”

I listen primarily to Fox and occasionally CBS. I have never heard either praise Russia in the slightest or heard of any congressman praising Russia.

I am not sure what you are talking about, but it is worthwhile to consider something. Our enemies do not have to be wrong all the time and there is nothing wrong with praising them when they do something right.

You must have been in the other room for the past nine years.

Fox routinely parrots the Kremlin line. It also promotes Russian allied totalitarian states.

I don’t know why anyone would continue to pretend that’s not the case.

Trump supports the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and is the force behind bullying Johnson into sitting on Ukranian military aid. Right wing media is busy promoting neo isolationism as an excuse for their candidate’s pro Russian politics.

Russians play them like the fiddle and they don't even know it, or.......maybe they do. At least some Republicans know their party has been infected by Russian propaganda, while others deny it, or just don't care.

Luxury yachts and other myths: How Republican lawmakers echo Russian propaganda

Two top House Republicans say some of their GOP colleagues are parroting Russian narratives on Ukraine. Here are some examples.
    https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/lu...-lawmakers-echo-russian-propaganda-rcna147293
Researchers who study disinformation say Reps. Mike Turner, R-Ohio, and Michael McCaul, R-Texas, are merely acknowledging what has been clear for some time: Russian propaganda aimed at undermining U.S. and European support for Ukraine has steadily seeped into America’s political conversation over the past decade, taking on a life of its own.

McCaul, chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, told Puck News he thinks “Russian propaganda has made its way into the United States, unfortunately, and it’s infected a good chunk of my party’s base.”

Turner, chair of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, told CNN that anti-Ukraine messages from Russia are “being uttered on the House floor.”

A US senator also parrotted this misinformation, JD Vance. Amazing when interests align how the hard core congessional Trump leg humpers parrot the Russians and Russian interests. Follow the "leader"....

And of course we have Putin's favorite presidential candidate rewarding Vlad for his support by blocking aid to Ukraine. A bill Johnson will try to get passed again this week.

Undoubtedly, this is about what Putin wants regarding Ukraine. Agent Orange is very "willing" to comply and will tank the House passage of such with private threats of putting a MAGA base target on these American cowards. It's as transparent as it gets.

Not even I am cynical enough to have believed the former GOP could be so co-opted as to show the kind of support to Russia that it has.

    And?

trump dead Enders like to pretend that Trump’s long dependence on Russians either doesn’t exist (easily refuted and documented), and try and dance past Trump’s pandering to Putin while he was President (also easily documented), or his open support for the Russian invasion.

Right wing media parrots the Kremlin line, and Russian trolls compete with Trump supporter on this forum (and others) to promote the Kremlin line.

The objective is to undermine Ukraine and divide the US from its traditional allies.

    These are also Trump’s goals.

It works especially well for the Russian government when Repubs parrot it.

You might want to give Tuberville a listen. Last week he was parroting information provided by Russian propaganda. Again. Likely, he had no idea who/what was the source, but it played well into his narrative.

He does not work for Fox. He was questioning aid to the Ukraine. Many, believe we should be protecting our own interests by protecting our own borders rather than spending it on Ukraine. That is not being pro-Russian. That is being pro-American.

I see the disconnect now. You thought we were talking about 'pro-Russia' statements. But that isn't the issue. It is that House Members are repeating things they've read put out by Russian propaganda. They don't know its Russian propaganda...just another news story that, if they verified, they'd discover that it wasn't true. Like the fact that Ukrainian officials are buying luxury goods with the money given by the US. Or that Putin had to invade Ukraine for the farmland so that his people could be fed. But my favorite is this:

“Last night’s [Tucker Carlson’s] interview with Putin shows that Russia is open to a peace agreement, while it is DC warmongers who want to prolong the war. That is why I’m voting to stop 60 BILLION MORE of our tax dollars to this conflict.”

Tucker Carlson has not worked for Fox for a long time.
We have an outrageous national debt with no attempts to stop it. We cannot defend the whole world along with spending money like crazy within the US. That is unfortunate, but true. At this time, our greatest threat by far is the southern border. We need a single purpose bill that does nothing but stop illegals from crossing our southern border. It should not be tied to Israel or the Ukraine. Those should also be single purpose bills.

What does it matter if Carlson has not been on Fox for a long time - I am talking about Tuberville's quote. I'm also not talking about the southern border crisis or us defending the world. This OP is all about Republicans who are swallowing the Russian propaganda and repeating it.

Which they blamed on Fox and no one can come up with what Fox has said.

As best I can find out, the Russian Propaganda they are swallowing is that the Ukraine is wasting our money. Ukraine has been corrupt in the past and that is a good reason to want more accountability before spending more money. At this time that issue appears to have been taken care of by sending them arms rather than money.
