Do you agree or disagree that in tax year 2021, the top 1% paid their fair share?

This post is so desperate to deflect/flame, you've discribed you own MO to a T. Trumpian projection is confession. Sad, yet totally expected and ironic.

No sir.....I posed the question about fair first. You don't get to toss it back unanswered and I m not the one who rants about "fair shares" they are not paying.

    You answer my OP

Cut???? sure, hide behind that one.

Irony is the cloak of denial but the cloak of ignorance. Please link me to your post before #459 that addressed it. Ohhhh, and when you post up "your" numbers, best to post up the source of said numbers in case you "made a mistake"......... again. Thanks.

After I showed the tax rate which is not what you just said

That's not necessaily true at all. They have 3.4% of their earnings towards taxes the highest earners have 29.5% going towards taxes.

Well, I believe that in tax year 2021, the top 1% paid their fair share.

Now, will you answer my question; Do you believe that in tax year 2021, the top 1% paid their fair share?

It’s either YES or a NO

Wait a minute, you’ve only re-posted a few words of my post, and that is your usual way to dismiss important info that annoys you.

And now, you’re asking me to X-out Covid, thus, eradicate a negativity, and truthfully recompute Trump’s figures.

When will you come back to earth?

You haven’t carefully thought about what you said

Top 1% earned 26.3% of total income
Top 1% share of income tax 45.8%
    Average Tax rate; 25.9%.

    Your belief;

Top 1% earned 26% of total income
Top 1% share of income tax should only be 26%
    Average tax rate 14.7%

Note; My effective federal income tax rate; 14.98%, and in 2023, my annual income was less than 230K.

that's rather disingenuous. what is wrong with a group that earns 26% of the income paying 26% of the income tax. the tax rate is not relevant in that inquiry

I told you what’s wrong your belief; If the top 1% effective tax rate was same as mine, thus, 14.98%, then we would have a REGRESSIVE income tax system. Still irrelevant to you?

if the top one percent makes 26% of the income and pay 26% of the taxes each member of that group pays FAR MORE ACTUAL dollars for their citizenship benefits than you do. Life is regressive btw.

I'd get rid of the income tax entirely and have a NST. it would eliminate massive amounts of extra constitutional power congress grabbed, it would eliminate the IRS for the most part

What would be your NST rate, and method of determination?

    Also, would you tax groceries?

psst; I thoughtfully studied several country’s NSTs, and created several threads about your wanting.

probably around 8% and probably not. The main goal is to castrate congressional power to use taxation and a power grab

A black and white world is pure MAGA projection which is confession. As for senile, that's more MAGA projection for the same reason, confession and to make a false equivalence and feel better that Agent Oranges is not alone in his obvious mental decline.

For your info, your probably/probably not 8% NST, which would replace our current progressive income tax system, would underfund FY2023’s $815 billion defense budget, thus, what would be your minimum NST rate, and/or sales revenue?

    You didn’t answer my question.

If you were to replace our current progressive income tax system with a National Sales Tax, what would be your minimum NST rate, and/or sales revenue?

Note; I’ve already told you that your probably/probably not 8% NST would underfund our current $815 billion defense budget. Also, it would be absurd to replace our current progressive income tax system with a NST rate without an estimation of sales revenue.

Quote; “My goal is to return Congress to the powers it was intended to have”

    Such as this;

    Article 1, Section 8, Clause 1….

Congress shall have the power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts, and excises to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States.

    As it should be.
Which makes it more equal, in terms of income left over for basic essentials.
