The judge said this morning, after this juror asked to be recused, that the press could talk about anything discussed on the record other than the physical characteristics of the jury. The public has the right to be physically in the room, so not much can be done to stop this information from being released. I agree that the anonymous jury is for a reason, but the jury selection is also part of the process and speaks to the partiality or impartiality of the trial. I don't like that they did it, but this is part of ensuring the public's trust in the criminal justice system.
We're going to be lectured on comportance by folks cheering crooked prosecutors, corrupt judges, election fixing by misusing their powers? Well, have fun, we aren't the ones who decided it would be great to just throw away all the rules of ordered liberty. I don't think you are going to enjoy the situation you created, quite as much as you thought you would. How Trump Used the New York Bodega Visit To Return to Form Trump loves being on the streets interacting with The People. 'There was Donald Trump, the former president, back in his element and enjoying himself in a crowd, posing for photographs, he is serious — truly — about winning an impossibly Democratic state.' 'The setting, a bodega where a man was fatally stabbed in 2022.' 'But not far from where he rode down the escalator on his way to the White House in 2015, Trump’s appearance on Tuesday was a reminder of Trump’s ability ' https://www.politico.com/news/2024/04/17/trump-trial-new-york-bodega-00152892
Are some reporters putting Trump jurors at risk? A juror requested to drop out of former president Donald Trump’s hush money trial Thursday, over concerns that her identity would be revealed — a situation that shows how intense media coverage could affect the trial and expose jurors to harassment. The members of the jury are meant to be anonymous. But that effort has been undermined, New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan said from the bench, by media reports that mentioned potentially identifiable information about the jurors — ranging from their physical appearances to their occupations. Anonymity is imperiled “when so much information is put out there that is very, very easy for anyone to identify who the jurors are,” Merchan told members of the media in court Thursday morning. Merchan’s remarks came after a woman identified as “Juror No. 2” asked to be removed from the jury because she felt her identity could be exposed, which in turn could compromise her ability to fairly judge Trump. After being seated on the jury, the woman said family and friends had already guessed she was Juror No. 2 after media reports included her occupation and employer. https://www.washingtonpost.com/style/media/2024/04/18/trump-trial-jury-selection-juror-2/ It seems members of right wing media feel at liberty to put jurors in harms way from Trump's mob since Trump continues to violate the gag order imposed on him with impunity. Apparently they feel, as Trump must, there are no consequences for abhorrent behavior. This is what happens when a monster like Trump isn't treated like the mobster he is.
Trump's raison d'etre is undermining the public's trust in the justice system. It's what he spends most of his time doing these days.
The Democrats beat him to it the minute they let there paranoia get to them and started these insipid witch hunts.
I'm sorry, this will likely get deleted, but you are actually wishing someone harm. That's sick, no matter what your political views may be.
The original source has to be the Jurors' written answers the the pro forma questionnaire. How that gets to the public, I dunno.
You could Google him. Worked for me. Here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geoffrey_Berman#2020_ouster Everything about that story has to do with Trump.
Trump's attorney is right there. Are you claiming that he's incompetent? Or do you know something no one else knows?
I’ve been saying this for a longtime now, it’s not only one party that’s corrupt. Politicians on both sides are completely corrupt and the citizens need to pay attention. Social media is the worst invention to date because it’s all about who has enough money to post the most disinformation. Make of this what you want however, politicians have the people exactly where they need them: divided.
Another Fox liar, a den of liars, so bad they had to pay $787 million for lying. But, you can't change a tiger's stripes, so lie they will continue to do.
The more likely scenario is that maga is trying to get some trump cultists on the jury by lying about their jury responses.
It's the sort of thing no responsible news organization would have allowed in the first place from one of its anchors. Now that it's happened, any reputable news organization would reprimand the anchor in question. Faux is neither.
The voir dire process is public. Even the NY Times is essentially live blogging it. The jury is anonymous in the sense that they’re not using names and the judge has asked the press not to give physical descriptions of the jury pool. But all of the prosecution and defense questions to the pool is public record. What someone and their spouse do to earn a living aren’t uncommon questions from either side. The default position for American courts is transparency. The judge is doing what he can to hide and cover up his corruption, but even that has been coming out if you read the limited and compressed filings the judge has allowed.
Do you understand the nature of the request prosecutors made to Judge Merchan that he enforce the gag order place on His Orangeness? The mobster known as the Orange Fraud repeated a remark made by Waters that "liberal activists" are lying to get on the jury. "He's in for a rude awakening": Experts say Trump daring judge with "clear violation" of gag order https://www.salon.com/2024/04/18/he...say-daring-with-clear-violation-of-gag-order/ Wait..........what am I thinking? If jurors and or witnesses express concerns over being intimidated because of what Trump and his mob have already done, all the better. If Trump corrupts the system he claims is corrupted against him, all the better. If the entire process is clouded with accusations and counter accusations of bias, all the better. If members of the judicial system bend over backwards to ensure Trump gets a fair trial and all he has to do is wag his finger to convince his minions he can't, all the better.
and I'm sure the prosecution isn't leaking things to fox news... but the real issue is why do people trying to do their civic duty get treated badly...and even if Fox was given this information why would the choose to broadcast it...
