The huge irony, of course, is that those on the progressive Left are more in favor of that child going around having casual sex before they are married.

But marriage? No, that is unspeakable and unimaginable.

Those same states that decided children in third grade should be taught how to put on condoms and have anal sex happen to also be the same states that have bumped up the minimum marriage age to 18.

An interesting paradoxical correlation there.

What religion is it you belong to again?
Is that home schooled you post about or your religion.

Because that's not public schools in USA.

You can't get married at 16 but you can get a double mastectomy at 14 if you are feeling "confused".
I don't agree with either of those things but it sure does make one wonder about the left's priorities

 

So Republicans are doing what they can to limit birth control and abortion. Now, they are pointing out that young girls are "ripe" and "fertile". Sounds to me as though this is the third leg of the plan. The goal? More babies. Unfortunately (but not surprising), we aren't reading about Republicans moving plans forward to assist the new mothers or their babies, once born.

 

Of course it would be a problem if a 16 or 17 year old had a baby out of wedlock

Of course the fact that Republicans want to ban abortion is what makes it more likely that a minor would have a child out of wedlock thus creating the necessity for child marriage.

It all falls back on the Republicans.

nope-what i am saying is that the current laws in most states-that require one to be an adult before marriage seem ok to me.

Here's the California theory: the illegals are hot to drop anchor babies, and it is better for all concerned that they get married and try to stay that way.

 

One day they want to ban social media to "protect our precious, innocent children", and the next day they want to force them on the marriage bed.

 

I didn't ask about "advocacy", I asked for actual CASES which is what the original claim was.

 

I was responding to someone who brought up pedophilia.

 

I understand that some states do have such requirements, but this thread is about one Republican in one state that wants to remove or continue such exemptions for underage girls. If so, what if an older woman wants to marry a young boy, or is gender an issue.

The issue is the inconsistency as well as the general directive.
