French people are really nice if you acknowledge their cultural superiority And don't do that annoying thing where you tramp around with an Old Glory t-shirt and believe that shouting things in English causes Europeans to understand it.
Well, it's kind of a tricky thing, since Ottawa is far less known than Toronto. It's like what would happen if you asked the average American (or probably the average Canadian) what the capital of Australia is. By reflex, you'd probably get a lot of "Sydney" responses, but of course, Canberra is the actual capital.
Yes indeed, Euro-trash, always complaining about America until they need us, then they pretend to care. Its tiring. The rest of the world is simply jealous, well maybe not China, but everyone else sees superiority in almost everything we do and can't help themselves but to have the desire to tear us down. You see less of it in boom times, but as soon as we hit a rough spot, these roaches climb out of woodwork to insult us. The more I see such garbage the more I support an entirely islosationist view for at least a decade. Let the dogs fend for themselves, without us, and see where the chips may fall.
i know the capital of australia because they are important and an ally but in anyones defense...australia does not (*)(*)(*)(*)ing border with U.S or Canada
Is this another Americans are stupid thread? You just have to read this forum every day to know that much..not all of them of course that would be a gross generalisation.
if you don't know (*)(*)(*)(*) as basic as the capital of the countries that you border ..well, that is sad and it really shows how (*)(*)(*)(*)ty your education system is
Why do you need to know that? Honestly in my 30 years other than this and maybe a test at school I have never needed to know the capital of Canada. I mean I guess it makes you look better, but that's really it. You're not going to be walking down the street and suddenly put in a situation where your life is in danger because you don't know how many provinces are in Canada.
LOL - When their women learn how to handle a razor I'll acknowledge their cultural equality. You realize we do that on purpose, don't you?
Oh Gee...do you really think you could arrange that? I mean...we poor, back-asswards countries get sooo tired of being jealous of you loud-mouthed, horse-ridden-assed, over-imposing war-mongers that a decade without having to hear y'all wail, "Where's McDonalds? I want some real food!" in Paris, and the endless wars and indiscriminate killin' binges y'all go on... ...that a decade without that might just teach us a lesson or two...
Personally, I think that it's a good thing that people think Toronto is the capital. When the bombs come, those of us in Ottawa will come through it unscathed.
LOL! Canadians don't fare much better when asked about basic facts relating to their own nation. Canadians need lesson in civics, poll shows 75% of Canadians don't even know who their head of state is and I'm not even talking about that they can't name a specific person, they literally don't even know which position is considered the "head of state". Which is worse: half of a population not being able to name the capitol of a foreign nation, or 75% of a population not being able to name the position that is the head of state of their own country? So, yes, Americans don't generally have an abundance of knowledge concerning Canada but then again neither do Canadians...
whatever happened to wanting to learn for the sake of learning? is that why americans are stupid? they only learn things they HAVE to know?
Oh I can dream that we would abandon you all to your fates, but unfortunately we are way too benevolent to allow it. Much as that galls me.
the queen is the head of state..but not many canadians know that...that is bad, however we'd know the capital of the U.S because we're obsessed with the U,S plus its on our news everyday
One should learn things of potential value, not just useless information that might pop up on a game show.
You forgot to answer the question, Which is worse: half of a population not being able to name the capitol of a foreign nation, or 75% of a population not being able to name the position that is the head of state of their own country?
True, but still... I think the problem you're seeing with America has less to do with a nationality and more to do with humans in general. Remember, the average IQ (regardless of nationality) is between 90 and 100. Even the best educated countries in the world (like Finland and South Korea) have their share of idiots among the general public. I wouldn't think that Americans are denser than any other population on average.
