When polled over 90% of Americans thought they were an above average driver. I am expecting something similar here.
Geesh, wouldn't 'below average on PF' be something along these lines? Who's gonna admit to being THAT dumb???
Average! Though the poll is inadqequate, as we are not defining how we determine the intelligence value of someone on these forums. Is it their resourcefulness to google everything so they can become immediate experts? Is it the lack of them being proven wrong on stated facts? I suppose it is all a moot point, as no matter what, I'll still be average
I happen to tell the truth. I am so below average that I attend a pre-school day care so that I can learn from 3 year olds. How many other people can claim that?
Above average.. cept i cant spell..type..or speak 3 languages. I cant formulate thoughts as well as I wish on print. I do know that touching a hot stove is only a 1 time thing.. I do know I cannot spend more than I earn. I cannot put a fire out by throwing just any ol liguid on it. I know when its too hot or too cold..or when to turn around and dont drown. I know the weathermen are very seldom correct..and that economics is much the same... I know that brilliant minds fail at the most simple task.. Being good at something doesn't make you a good politician. The sun rises and sets the same way..despite what we think we can change. I do know politics is more about perception than reality. Humans are basically the same..despite the various labels we place upon ourselves. and I wish todays baseball hero's were more like Harmon Killebrew than todays overpaid pompous clowns. That goes for all sports interest. and last but not least..I know my dollar doesn't buy as much as it used to.. Funny how intelligence works like that.
Let's see. I know there are 50 states and not 57. I know that earning $250k a year does not make you rich. I know the difference in a deficit and a debt. I have an opinion on when life starts. I can pronounce "corpseman" when I see it written. I know enough that if I were President I wouldn't pick April 15th to tell taxpayers they should be thanking me. So, I'll leave it up to you but the liberals must think I'm brilliant.
What a shock...everyone thinks they are above average intelligence. That is exactly what is wrong with much of the world, imo.
Nope... but I think it makes sense that everyone would think they're above average. If their political ideology differs from the normal ideology on this forum, and they firmly believe that their ideology is correct, then of course they are going to vote above average. What's wrong with people thinking this?
Clearly you are not, since you did not read all posts prior to yours, otherwise you may well have written something different. Unless I am on your 'ignore' list too.
I have better things to do with my life then read all the posts in them before I answer a thread. I answered strictly on the basis of the poll results. And I currently have no one on my ignore list. Only the weak put people on ignore lists - imo.
What are you asking me? What is wrong with people believing in their political ideology? I dunno - it depends what it is and why they believe in it. If you are asking me what is wrong with everyone thinking they are above average intelligence? That should be obvious. At least some of them are wrong. And thusly think they are smarter then they are. And that usually leads to ignorance and arrogance - which does no one any good, ever. 'A man has got to know his limitations' Dirty Harry - I could not agree more (though change 'man' and 'his' to 'person' and 'their', respectively).
Well I can't speak about how intelligent I am in comparison to other people on here because I can't give an honest answer on that. I can tell you that I have an average IQ(according to the last test I've taken), I have ADD, and I struggle with numbers. I can barely comprehend basic math. Say what you will about me, but whenever I'm working on a math problem, I might see 42x58 one minute and look back and see 42 divide by 50. The numbers and symbols seem to flip and change. I know that sounds ridiculous but that's the only way I can explain it. I do however excel at reading and english. I could have been in the top percentage of my class if I had applied myself. As it was I was a smartass and didn't care for the classic books. I thought they were to boring. Unfortunately since graduating my spelling skills have somewhat decreased steadily over the years.
Yes -- that is what I was asking -- I should have made that more clear. What harm does a little arrogance do? "A person has got to know their limitations" is grammatically incorrect. Sorry, but I just had to point that out.
