BofA to Charge $5 Monthly Fee for Debit-Card Usage

:bye: free checking. The banksters are getting crooked again. I guess the 24 cents they will get from each swipe isnt good enough for them.

The impact of the financial reform legislation will be most visible in the bank’s consumer finance unit (BOA), which accounts for more than half of the company’s revenue and impacts more than 55 million customers. The legislation places new restrictions on transaction fees that bank’s can charge on debit card payments, which are expected to cost the bank about $2 billion in annual revenue. The company’s decision not to charge overdraft fees will likely cost the bank an additional $1 billion per year in revenue.

Say goodbye to free checking, free checks, free ATM use and more...THANKS UBAMA!!!

Actually I would thank Dodd-Frank. I doubt Obama knew what was in the legislation, but Barney Frank and Chris Dodd sure did.

OK, I'll blame Ubama for stupidity and blame Frank and Dodd for tyranny.

Obama's going to take all the money and give it to his Obama voters so who needs a credit card?

I left them a few years ago, the fees were awful then. Credit union have some pluses, the only draw back is they tend to offer fewer services that are sometimes handy.

Thanks, Dick Durbin for raising the cost of our cards. Oh, wait, it has to be the banks fault.

I suppose whether or not $.24 is good enough depends on the cost to the bank. Of course, rstone199 wouldn't think of that. The bank has to be wrong. Dick Durbin isn't to blame. Neither are Dodd or Frank. Of course not. It's the nasty bank that provides the card and the bookkeeping service.

There is a very, very simple solution, rstone199. Unlike the government, you have a choice on whether or not you want to do business with the Bank of America, don't you?

Yeah, blame the banks like a good little sheep. It's time to put a stop to idiot liberals, and that stop will be complete 13 months from now.

But...but...but...If they don't do this, the executives will ONLY be able to buy a private plane this year, instead of a plane, a helicopter, and a fleet of new cars!

I guess they did accomplish something those 2 years that the dems had control of Congress... no budget, but they were able to screw the citizens over.

This is what liberals do. They pass laws, which make companies, banks, corporations, the rich, etc, look bad for doing things to keep making money and do what they do, and then they try to blame them in the end, when it was really the lawmakers doing.

    Good move Submarinepainter,
I closed out my longtime account with TDBank for similar reasons. Always a new fee it seemed. Been using a brokerage account through my wifes employer ever since.

No fees, and they even reimburse me for any ATM charges I incur.

    Havent looked back.

Actually, it's punishing the victims of leftist politicians. But, at least you have a choice who you do business with.

A neighbor who banks at BOA told me she got a letter from them saying she would only be allowed, IIRC, 3 calls a month to check on her balance and cancelled checks.........

A bit early, however, action is more effective than talk.
