    WTF?

These are WEIGH STATION CHECKPOINTS. TRUCKERS BY LAW have to pull over to weigh stations to be weighed anyway. This sort of stuff is part and parcel to being a trucker.

Show me where random motorists in passenger vehicles are being pulled over and searched. Commercial drivers become part of the national transportation network and therefore are valid targets for searches.

America is never going back to the pre-9/11 mentality and yes, truckers, airplane travelers and some other specific types of travelers will have to face heightened security.

When you become a Commercial Truck Driver, you become part of the National Transportation Network and therefore give up certain rights.

Whether libertarians like it or not, pre-9/11 thinking is never going to return to America and yes you are going to have give up some of your privacy if you are in certain professions, take certain kinds of transport used by large numbers of people, or other certain isolated circumstances.

Accept it, or don't become a truck driver. If you are traveling with your family there is nothing stopping you from saying "I am invoking my 4th amendment right against search and seizure" and that is it. It's not like they are going to pull you out of your car and beat your ass. Geez.

But no one is pulling over passenger cars at trucker weigh stations.

Sounds reasonable. But the whole thing is wrong from top to bottom and side to side. No good can come from governemnt unconstitutional incursion on our liberty, this is testing the limits we are willing to bear. I am unwilling to bear any of it. Its Islamo losers that are the purpetrators of these hidious crimes of murder, not grannies and small children. If there is a specific threat percieved with a truck shipment, then the FBI should be cvalled with a specific truch license and a discription of the driver and the specific thing that aroused suspecian in the first place.

It doesn't matter. A cop can't just come up to me and assume something is wrong in public. I have to be actually doing something wrong.

A cop can't just assume I am drunk. He has to have reason to believe so.

Although cops often abuse theses privileges... if you ever find yourself in a situation where a cop is trying to use powers he doesn't have... video tape it on your phone. Cause if you don't the courts will always take the cops word over your word.

Can't you get in trouble for making video recordings of a cop?

I NEVER thought I would say this but I find myself agreeing with Never Left on this matter.

The 4th Amendment expressly forbids this type of activity by the government. How in the name of all that is right did this ever get passed? How was asleep at the wheel here besides the American people? I think we need a showing across all networks of an Ali fight so America can see what a "Rope A Dope" is and maybe draw a correlation.

Be careful of that, people are getting prosecuted for taking video of cops. This police state has already made it illegal to point out violations of the law made by their agents.

This is an assumed power through the patriot act and TSA/Homeland Security. Its a Nazi police state move, Bush started it, O'Bama has made it worse. Its time to pressure our politicians that enough is enough.

I've never heard that. I don't think so. I've had lawyers tell me to record (video or sound) with my phone if a cop is overstepping his rights.

Yeah, I probably would just start recording just for sound... that way the police wouldn't even know I was taping/recording.

Hopefully I never find myself in that situation though...

They destroyed air travel for the common man, are working to mess up rail travel, and now are making illegal searches on the highways.

The way to stop the abuse if for a big pockets freedom fighter taking them to court for violations of federal law, title 18, civil rights violations under the color of office..

YES! In some states, it is a FELONY! Even if it's legal, you might "accidentally" drown yourself in aa toilet while "resisting arrest", or you might die of thirty or so "self-inflicted" gunshot wounds to the back.

I have mixed feelings about this.

The overriding factor for me is the fact that The Monumental Fraud, Commie/Socialist, Racist Owebama declared shortly when he became prez, that he would create a personal "POLICE FORCE" equal in strength to the Military to "safeguard our Democracy".

I WAS ASTONISHED THAT THIS GLARINGLY DANGEROUS GAMBIT FOR THE TOTAL POLITICAL CONTROL OF OUR NATION WAS NOT ONLY LAMBASTED BY THE MSM (which, let's face it, was certainly in the tank for Owebama .....especially in those days) .....BUT, EVEN OUR RADIO & TALK SHOWS !!!!

So.... YES. I agree with the OP-ed.
