I was at Occupy Times Square and I will tell you straight up that every cop I talked to was totally courteous and well mannered. Maybe it was because I was in a tie and suit though. I think the problem is you have these dip(*)(*)(*)(*)s from LI and NJ who have a chip on their shoulder and something to prove, ironic because the cops should be with this movement. NYPD rookies start out making a mere 25K a year!

So you mean to tell us that you think the tea party which is a political organization formed because of rampant irresponsibility in Washington that is impoverishing our children and grandchildren by saddling them with debt etc., should now somehow suddenly transform itself into some sort of human rights organization? Like stated before by other posts, it doesnt show what happened before hand. Having said that, there is no acceptable reason for a police officer to grab someone walking away and punch them. If he did something that bad they needed to take him to the ground and cuff him, not assault him. Assaults on our fellow citizens by police officers should be unacceptable. I am not calling forceful takedowns or knees in the back assault, punching an unarmed civilian in the head/face is assault. The officer was clearly retaliating, not defending himself. This behavior should upset every American so why call for the tea party to stand against it? We all should!

As others have said, I would need to see what led up to that incident. Regardless if you need to take someone down, you ground and cuff them. You don't spin them around and punch them in the head. It seems this police officer lost his temper judging by his body language in the video. My guess is, the protester got in his face, said something stupid and walked away. The Officer decided he was Judge Dredd and Nailed him. The correct thing to do would be either to smile and shrug it off or place the man under arrest. I see no justification for this but again, I will need to see the entire video.

Agreed,,it seems to fill some need,,,,I doubt that Cop just clocked the guy...However the kid was just walking away..I do not think the Cop is supposed to act like that unless it's self defense..or he is stopping an attack.. What the Tea party has to do with anything I have no idea....
