http://www.citizensforethics.org/in...nual-most-corrupt-members-of-congress-report/ September 20, 2006 CREW Releases Second Annual Most Corrupt Members of Congress Report Washington, DC Today, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) released its second annual report on the most corrupt members of Congress entitled Beyond DeLay: The 20 Most Corrupt Members of Congress (and five to watch). This encyclopedic report on corruption in the 109th Congress documents the egregious, unethical and possibly illegal activities of the most tainted members of Congress. CREW has compiled the members transgressions and analyzed them in light of federal laws and congressional rules. Two members have been removed from last years list of 13. Rep. Randy Duke Cunningham (R-CA) is now serving an eight-year jail term for bribery and Rep. Bob Ney (R-OH) has agreed to plead guilty to crimes that will likely result in a minimum two-year prison term. CREW has also re-launched the reports tandem website, www.beyonddelay.org. The site offers short summaries of each members transgressions as well as the full-length profiles and all accompanying exhibits. CREWs Most Corrupt Members of Congress: Members of the Senate: Conrad Burns (R-MT) Bill Frist (R-TN) Rick Santorum (R-PA) Members of the House: Alan Mollohan (D-WV) Roy Blunt (R-MO) Marilyn Musgrave (R-CO) Ken Calvert (R-CA) Richard Pombo (R-CA) John Doolittle (R-CA) Rick Renzi (R-AZ) Tom Feeney (R-FL) Pete Sessions (R-TX) Katherine Harris (R-FL) John Sweeney (R-NY) William Jefferson (D-LA) Charles Taylor (R-NC) Jerry Lewis (R-CA) Maxine Waters (D-CA) Gary Miller (R-CA) Curt Weldon (R-PA) Five Members to Watch: Chris Cannon (R-UT) J.D. Hayworth (R-AZ) Dennis Hastert (R-IL) John Murtha (D-PA) Don Sherwood (R-PA) CREW created this exhaustive go-to guide on corruption in Congress to expose and hold accountable those members of Congress who believe they are above the law, Melanie Sloan, executive director of CREW said today. The officials named in this report have chosen to enrich themselves and their families and friends by abusing the power of their office, rather than work for the public good. Their collective corruption affects all Americans. An August 2006 Harris poll shows that 77% of Americans have a negative view of Congress and a May 2006 Gallup poll indicates that 83% of Americans consider corruption a serious issue. Sloan continued, Congress persists in abdicating its constitutional responsibility to police itself, opting to ignore the ethical and legal transgressions of its members. Luckily for the public, at least the Department of Justice still believes that political corruption is worth pursuing. Several other members careers have been tarnished or destroyed by their corrupt activities. In addition to Reps. Ney and Cunningham, former Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX) has been indicted in Texas and is facing possible federal indictment in the Jack Abramoff scandal and Reps. William Jefferson (D-LA), Jerry Lewis (R-CA), Alan Mollohan (D-WV), as well as Sens. Conrad Burns (R-MT) and Bill Frist (R-TN) are now under federal investigation.
I was intrigued until only 4 out over 25 were democrat. Their website reads as the gop is evil and Obama is doing great! (minus the economy, minus fuel prices, minus the declining dollar, minus 90% of his campaign promises which they fail to mention). Upon further review they are a liberal watch dog organization, not to mention the creator was once a staff member for Biden, John Conyers and Chuck Schume; Both parties are corrupt as hell, to ignore this means one is either corrupt themselves or ignorant. Something with a little less bias please. K thx
Interesting. Thanks for pointing this out. In my defense, I just read the articles, then repost for further review from peers. Thanks for your input. From now on, I will research the creators of the articles myself. Fool me once, shame on me.
Granny says, "Couldn't do any worse dan dat buncha yahoos we got now... If used car salesman ran Congress 9 January 2013 - Suffering from incredibly low approval ratings, Congress is now less popular than cockroaches. We turn to some groups (slightly) more beloved by Americans for advice.
Had it appeared on drudge and had mostly D's on the list you would have LOVED it and it would have been un-reproachable in it's integrity.
You are right, so can we agree this one is just as ridiculous? Kinda silly, who is the one defining what corruption is? Have to be honest I was interested in this post as soon as I saw it, would be nice to see examples and reasons for each one I suppose. But then again, couldnt we really dig up a list for every politician on the planet?
No we can't. Just because it lists more of one party does not mean it is partisan. Sometimes, quite frequently in fact, one party is more corrupt. Shot in the dark here but the law defines what corruption is. I suppose you could if you really needed to, but if you simply list those that are under indictment, investigation or in some cases convicted, in other words you tell the truth, why would need to dig deeper, other than purely partisan reasons? I do agree that quite a lot of this type of stuff is partisan and can be dismissed off hand, however this list is well known and not too partisan. Sometimes, as I say, one party really is more corrupt and over the decades, it has always been the republican party. - - - Updated - - - So, why not show us where they lied? - - - Updated - - - So, why not show us where they lied?
Nacy Pelosi gets a bribe from the Visa and she doens't even make the list. I love how liberals form these groups and then claim to be non partisan. My answer to CREW SHUT THE HELL UP!!!
Pelosi's net worth increased by more than one hundred million dollars during, "THE WORST RECESSION SINCE THE GREAT DEPRESSION!"
Your signature exposes your ignorance on matters of guns and gun control: 1. The Cookson Repeater Rifle was used and produced in the United States, from 1750 until the mid 19th century, valued for its rapid rate of fire. 2. The Girandoni rifle it stored up to 22 .46 caliber balls in a magazine! 3. Meriwether Lewis had an Air Riffle that could take down a buffalo! That's right folks no gun powder! Last but not least much to the chagrin of the *******s well regulated at that time in regards to munitions meant up to date and accurate, fact is our forefathers were so smart they wanted to make sure we understood that they wanted Americans to have the most updated weapons and ammo, but alas they didnt account for the twisting squirming morons that are the *******s of today.
Thank you for your blind attempt limiting the corruption of this article. I am just as trusting of Republicans as I am of Democrats - only fools believe "their" party is telling the truth.
