During today's press conference, as he was touting the virtues of hyroxychloroquine, Trump said he took the drug for 14 days as a preventive measure.

Once again the reporters in the room missed the obvious question.

As the virus still rages, as his NSA has tested positive for the virus, if the drug is safe and effective as you say, why did you stop taking it?

Trump is not known for his intellectual capabilities. So, in today's briefing, he asked this about Dr. Fauci, “And he’s got this high approval rating. So why don’t I have a high approval rating with respect -- and the administration, with respect to the virus?”

Well, there are several reasons. Here are a few.

Trump's twitter posts he retweeted on Monday evening accused Fauci of misleading Americans about hyroxychloroquine. When asked about it in the briefing today, Trump said, “I don’t even know what his stance is on it.” [IMG]

Trump’s trade advisor Peter Navarro penned an op-ed blasting Fauci for being “wrong about everything I have interacted with him on.”

A White House official circulated a list of Fauci’s alleged missteps that resembled an opposition research-type document used in political campaigns.

Since voters approved Fauci over Trump, 68% to 41%, this may account for the disparity.

On Monday evening, Trump had taken his hydroxychloroquine message public, retweeting a series of videos that were later removed by Twitter for containing false and misleading information about mask-wearing and the unproven drug.

At the press conference today Trump defended the video and the doctor it featured on Tuesday: "There was a woman who was spectacular in her statements about it and she's had tremendous success with it. And they took her voice off," he said.

But he seemed to back off when pressed about the statements made in the video itself, including that "you don't need masks" and the doctor's past statements about alien DNA used in medical treatments.

"I thought her voice was an important voice, but I know nothing about her,"Trump said. Moments later, he stormed out of the room.

Try to imagine another four years with this President.

Much as he would like to, Trump cannot escape the coronavirus pandemic. Last week it was reported that his National Security Advisor, Robert O'Brien, who works closely with the President, tested positive for the virus.

Today, Trump's trip to Texas -- meant to highlight American energy and raise campaign cash -- was overshadowed by the raging coronavirus pandemic before Air Force One even got off the ground.

One of the passengers who was supposed to join Trump on the trip, Republican Rep. Louie Gohmert, tested positive during a pre-flight screening at the White House.

The state Trump is visiting has seen a surge in cases, forcing the Republican governor there to reimpose a number of restrictions on businesses in an attempt to contain the virus.

"I really do believe a lot of the governors should be opening up states that they're not opening and we'll see what happens with them," Trump said Monday.

"In his forthcoming memoir, former CIA director John Brennan reveals that President-elect Donald Trump repeatedly tried to avoid blaming Russia during a classified briefing in January 2017 on the Kremlin’s interference in the previous year’s election.

“It could have been the Chinese,” Trump asserted on several occasions, according to Brennan’s book.

After he and three other leaders from the intelligence community “took turns debunking his counterclaims,” according to Brennan, Trump sought to cast doubt on their sources and methods. “Anyone will say anything if you pay them enough,” he purportedly said.

Fast forward three-and-a-half years. During an interview on Tuesday, Trump said he has never raised U.S. intelligence that Russian bounties have been offered to Taliban-linked militants to kill American troops in Afghanistan during any of his conversations with Vladimir Putin, including a call with the Russian president last week. Trump demurred when Axios’s Jonathan Swan asked whether he believes the U.S. intelligence assessment that Russia was behind the deadly program. Instead, just as Brennan says he did at Trump Tower, the president pivoted to China."

In Trump's America the state and the local government of a major city are negotiating with the federal government for a ceasefire and the removal of federal forces. Portland protests: Federal agents to leave city, Oregon governors says

In Trump's America, the Russian dictator, Vladimir Putin, is pleased that his protégé, the President of the United States, is withdrawing 12,000 troops from Germany, retreating to Belgium. Trump said the troop drawdown was taking place because Berlin was not meeting the NATO target of 2% of its GDP on defense. Belgium and Italy, the two countries that will be receiving US troops from Germany, spend an even a smaller percentage on defense than Berlin does. Trump's move will take years and cost billions. US to withdraw nearly 12,000 troops from Germany in move that will cost billions and take years - CNNPolitics

Only in Trump's America can this happen. Putin is getting his money's worth.

Yesterday there were 1,266 deaths in the U.S. due to the virus, and 64,729 were added to the total case count. Today, 1,118 Americans have died and counting. Trump's NSA tested positive for the virus. Republican Rep. Louie Gohmert, tested positive during a pre-flight screening at the White House. He was to accompany Trump to Texas. GOP congressional candidate Wesley Hunt tested positive for COVID-19. He was on his way to Midland to meet Trump. Only in Trump's America will the President leave Washington to tour oil rigs and ask for money for his reelection campaign.

Only in Trump's America does the President walk alone to Marine One or down the steps of Air Force One, no First Lady and no staff, just Trump.

Trump to imagine another four years of this President!

Oh, yes, Lee, Trump is Putin's protégé. No one is denying that. Putin helped Trump get elected, and Trump and his son asked the Russian government for help.

A couple days ago, in front of a national television audience, Trump recommended that we listen to the advice of a voodoo doctor. Now the mindless President is suggesting we delay the Presidential election. I wonder why.

With Universal Mail-In Voting (not Absentee Voting, which is good), 2020 will be the most INACCURATE & FRAUDULENT Election in history. It will be a great embarrassment to the USA. Delay the Election until people can properly, securely and safely vote???
    5:46 AM · Jul 30, 2020·Twitter for iPhone

The Republican President was shot down immediately by the Republican leadership in Congress.

"No, we are not going to delay the election," No. 3 Republican Sen. John Barrasso, Wyo., said on Fox Business Network. "We're going to have the election completed and voting completed by Election Day."

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., the chairman of the Judiciary Committee and a frequent Trump golfing partner was kind to the to the deranged President. "I don’t think that’s a particularly good idea," he said.

Graham added that he believed Trump's "concerns about mail-in voting are valid, but delaying the election is not the right answer."

"The election is not going to be delayed," said Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., who faces a competitive re-election this fall. "We got to make sure that we have the resources and we don’t have the debacle that we’re seeing in, say, the state of New York. The election is going to happen in November, period."

Republican senators shoot down Trump suggestion to '''delay the election'''

Trump proved there was no voter fraud by the Russians, Chinese, Cubans, or Americans worth mentioning.

The A.P. reports, "The now-disbanded voting integrity commission launched by the Trump administration uncovered no evidence to support claims of widespread voter fraud, according to an analysis of administration documents released Friday."

Report: Trump commission did not find widespread voter fraud

"Trump's tweet came shortly after the United States announced it had suffered the worst economic decline on record in the second quarter of the year, with GDP contracting by 32.9 percent. Recent polls have shown Democratic opponent Joe Biden pulling ahead in national surveys and key swing states," NBC News.

In Trump's America, the President of the United States undermines the Presidential election. In his press conference today, Trump declared that the November election will be rigged. He said that mail-in voting will cause massive voter fraud.

He offered no proof and no studies to prove his point. Earlier in his Presidency, Trump proved that voter fraud didn't exist. Report: Trump commission did not find widespread voter fraud

Trump and several members of his administration have used mail-in voting several times.

Little wonder why Trump's followers are avoiding this thread. They can run, but they cannot hide.

Trump is telling everyone who will listen -- that would include his ever loyal base -- that the next election will be rigged and mail-in voting will cause it to be fraudulent.

GOP leaders, already extremely vulnerable because of Trump, are pleading with Trump to stop his campaign of maligning the election.

Why? Trump's base believes everything Trump says. If the election is rigged, why bother to vote?

That's how dumb. Trump is cutting his own throat and the throats of every vulnerable Republican in Congress.

That would be all of them running for reelection.

New infections appear to have peaked across the U.S., but at an extremely high number, 66,000 new cases today and counting. Hospitalizations continue to rise, and the death toll is soaring. More than 1,400 coronavirus-related deaths were reported nationwide Wednesday — roughly one fatality for every minute of the day.

Herman Cain, the former pizza chain executive who sought the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, has died weeks after testing positive for the coronavirus.

Although it is unclear where Cain was infected, he was among several thousand people, most of whom did not wear masks, who attended a Trump campaign rally in Tulsa on June 20. Days after the event he tested positive for the disease. Cain, who co-chaired Black Voices for Trump, was pictured maskless and not socially distancing at the event.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/natio...ve-updates-us/

Today Trump hosted a roundtable at Red Cross Headquarters. For a change, several medical experts were there, including Drs. Fauci and Birx. All were wearing masks.

    Except Trump.

Maybe Trump has a death wish.

There is a reason why Hemmer wants nothing to do with Trump.

A couple days ago, in front of a national television audience, Trump recommended that we listen to the advice of a voodoo doctor. Now the mindless President is suggesting we delay the Presidential election. On Fox's noon news with Bill Hemmer there was no mention of any of this.

We just suffered the worst quarter in American economic history. The Post put it this way. "The U.S. economy contracted by 9.5 percent in the second quarter — a record decline and the latest sobering reflection of the pandemic’s economic devastation. Economists say the data should serve as a cautionary tale for what’s at stake if America’s recovery slips away, especially as major outbreaks in some parts of the country have forced businesses to close once again."

Hemmer didn't say a word about the economic catastrophe.

He covered decades old violence in Chicago and New York, and the Congressional debate over a coronavirus relief bill.

And some other stuff I have forgotten. They must not have been very important.

I really feel sorry for Trump's followers. If this is the only news network they listen to because they don't care to listen to the liberal "fake news" networks like ABC, NBC, CNN, and CBS, then they really don't know what is happening around them. It's not surprising they voted for Trump They didn't know any better.

Trump stated that the election should be delayed for the first time ever along with his evidence-free claims that "2020 will be the most inaccurate and fraudulent" vote in history.

In an interview Trump told Chris Wallace he may or may not accept the results of the election. When he loses in November, quite frankly, it won't matter if accepts the results or not. Come Jan. 20 he is gone and good riddance.

Trump is the only man I have ever known who repeatedly goes out of his way to make a fool of himself to draw attention.

    And he is our President!

I honestly think he is not a well man, mentally. There is no other logical explanation for his behavior.

That was yesterday. Today he wants to move the day up. "No one wants that date more than me. Move it up," Trump told reporters.

Then he said we won't know the results "for weeks, months, maybe years. Maybe we will never know the results." Trump has this strange habit of creating fantasies, then believing them.

He lies so easily now. He no longer knows the difference between reality and his countless fantasies.

“The final key to the way I promote is bravado. I play to people’s fantasies. People may not always think big themselves, but they can still get very excited by those who do. That’s why a little hyperbole never hurts. People want to believe that something is the biggest and the greatest and the most spectacular. I call it truthful hyperbole. It’s an innocent form of exaggeration—and a very effective form of promotion.”

His base is eagerly listening to every word as he discourages his own base from voting.

To distract from the fact that he was an idiot with his extremely poor management of the coronavirus pandemic, Trump makes himself look like a bigger idiot.

Trump is aiding our foreign enemies, Russia, for example. They can use our President's own words in their disinformation attempts during the election campaign. If the President is maligning American elections, that is a huge advantage for the Russians.

Is Trump helping Putin on purpose or is he just being an idiot?

So much for new cases peaking. there are over 70,000 new cases today and counting. So far 1,456 more Americans died today and still counting. At 257 deaths Florida on Friday marked the fourth consecutive day it reported a record number of Covid-19 deaths in the state.

So where do you suppose Trump went today?

You got it, Florida, of course. Oh, by the way, there is a hurricane bearing down on the state as well.

When he got there he mingled with a maskless crowd of people, and he, of course, was not wearing a mask. All that preaching about facemasks was just another lie.

By failing to lead, why is Trump discouraging the use of a facemask to save American lives?

Is he acting as Putin's agent?

Contrary to medical experts, governors, mayors, and the GOP leadership, what other explanation is there?

    So much for social distancing.

The election is over for Trump. McConnell knows Trump will lose to Biden. He is trying desperately to maintain Republican control of the Senate.

Sen. Mitch McConnell is allowing Republican Senate candidates to do whatever it takes to salvage their campaigns ahead of what Republicans increasingly fear could be a devastating election for their party.

In recent weeks, the Senate majority leader has become so concerned over Republicans losing control of the Senate that he has signaled to vulnerable GOP senators in tough races that they could distance themselves from the President if they feel it is necessary, according to multiple senior Republicans including a source close to McConnell.

That could mean breaking with Trump on the administration's response to the coronavirus pandemic and the continued efforts by the President to paint an optimistic picture despite rising cases and deaths across parts of the country, especially in many Republican states in the South and Midwest.

As Trump continues to demand a return to in-person classes for schools around the country despite the worsening coronavirus pandemic, the school attended by his youngest son has received an order prohibiting on-campus learning for the start of the school year.

Montgomery County, Maryland, on Friday issued a directive demanding that private schools not conduct in-person learning until October 1. Barron Trump, who is slated to enter 9th grade in the fall, attends St. Andrew's Episcopal School, a private school in Potomac, Maryland, part of Montgomery County.

The Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is allowing allowing Republican Senators to break with Trump. Trump's sharp criticism of American elections was the last straw for McConnell.

Lamenting his plunging popularity this week, a self-pitying Trump wondered how it all went wrong.

"Nobody likes me," he said, confounded at how his administration's health experts could be receiving accolades while he is accused of ignoring and denying the raging public health crisis.

"It can only be my personality," Trump said.

It took a while but he finally got something right.

Is this the Comedy Hour? This is surreal. The GOP is making a fool of itself.

Well, its party leader is Trump, so no one is surprised. Aiding Russia's disinformation efforts to thwart the American elections, our President, the GOP's party leader, announced that "2020 will be the most inaccurate and fraudulent" vote in history.

    Now this.

On Saturday, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported that, according to a convention spokesperson, all activities related to the quadrennial event — including Trump’s Aug. 24 renomination — would be closed to reporters “given the health restrictions and limitations in place” in North Carolina.

Other news outlets, including the Associated Press and CNN, followed up with similar reports. If journalists are not allowed to cover the event in person, it would mark the first time in modern history that such a restriction was enacted at a national party convention.

Hold on. Wait just a minute. Maybe it's not true.

Or ... maybe it is. No one, including the Republican National Committee knows for sure.

The Post reports, The Republican National Committee says no final decision has been made about whether President Trump’s renomination will be held in private at the GOP convention in Charlotte, contradicting previous reports that restrictions on crowd size during the coronavirus pandemic would prevent the news media from attending.

Two RNC officials insisted Sunday that they are still working through the logistics and press coverage options, breaking with the statement made by a GOP convention spokesperson the previous day.

“We are still working through logistics and press coverage options,” one of the officials said in a statement Sunday. Neither of the officials was authorized to speak publicly on the matter." [IMG]

This is good stuff. The GOP is a joke.

It's going to be a massacre on November 3.

Trump has made these remarks concerning the coronavirus pandemic which is surging once again.

The coronavirus will weaken “when we get into April, in the warmer weather—that has a very negative effect on that, and that type of a virus.”

“It’s going to disappear. One day it’s like a miracle—it will disappear.”

If the economic shutdown continues, deaths by suicide “definitely would be in far greater numbers than the numbers that we’re talking about” for COVID-19 deaths. [The virus death toll currently stands at 158,887.]

“Coronavirus numbers are looking MUCH better, going down almost everywhere,” and cases are “coming way down.”

The pandemic is “fading away. It’s going to fade away.”

The pandemic is “getting under control.”

And this whopper. “99%” of COVID-19 cases are “totally harmless.” [Trump said this as hospitals were running out of ICU beds, and the U.S. was averaging a thousand deaths a day.]

“Many doctors think it is extremely successful, the hydroxychloroquine coupled with the zinc and perhaps the azithromycin. Many doctors think it’s extremely good, and some people don’t.”

All of Trump’s Lies About the Coronavirus - The Atlantic

Trump held another solo press conference today. Here is my question. After making these dumbass comments, is Trump a complete fool by standing before a live television audience and the White House press corps? Wouldn't it be a lot smarter for him to lie low, keep his damn mouth shut, and let the White House try to straighten out the mess he created?

Sorry, that's two questions, and ...

    Trump isn't nearly that smart.

John Roberts replaced Bill Hemmer today on the noon news on Fox. I must give credit where credit is due. A lot more was said about our President today. Hemmer is extremely reluctant about presenting anything about Trump.

Roberts is Fox's White House correspondent.

There was a very interesting story. Fox continues to show educators and parents who are insisting that children are dying for summer vacation to end and they can return to school.

I am not saying Fox is trying to mislead Trump's base, but, if that is true, a lot has change since I was in school. In my day, the end of summer vacation called for a period of mourning, not celebration.

Trump’s all-out war on mail voting is backfiring in battleground states.

Politico reports, "New private polling shared first with POLITICO showed that Republicans have become overwhelmingly concerned about mail balloting, which Trump has claimed, without evidence, will lead to widespread voter fraud. A potentially decisive slice of Trump’s battleground-state base — 15 percent of Trump voters in Florida, 12 percent in Pennsylvania and 10 percent in Michigan — said that getting a ballot in the mail would make them less likely to vote in November."

Keep up the good work, Donald.

You are correct. I can't find fault with your assessment, but you are being more generous with your language than I would be.

Trump is a threat to the national security and the health of the nation and to the planet, since he is doing nothing about climate change, and, in fact, is accelerating it.

Also, he lacks wisdom, he is wholly unfit for the office, and is in over his head.
