Yep, I can hear it in the Oval Office "Hey make sure you get the colors and gender right when you send me the list".

How about you see who is available regardless of color and pick the best candidate based on proven capabilities in logistics and management.

Biden expected to diversify USPS board, cement Democrats' oversight with appointments
The expected appointments, which include two men of color and a woman, would greatly diversify the board and add members with direct Postal Service experience....

As usual, the left only sees color. Whitey need not apply.

Just what we needed, the USPS to suck worse than it already does.
But who knows, maybe some fresh faces will turn it around. I wouldn't think it could hurt at this point.

Surprising no one. Race and genitals, far more important than experience and qualifications.

Diversity can add fresh ideas and perspectives. Not sure why righties constantly need this explained.

Mainly because you think diversity is skin deep. If I were looking for fresh new ideas and different perspectives, I would look at people from different cultures not just skin color. They very well may be a different skin color or gay or whatever but that is secondary to the culture that they are from.

Why do lefties think that you have diversity simply by hiring a black man, gay man, Hispanic woman, etc.?

You make a good point. Republicans generally assume that one particular combination of race and genitals = 'qualified' and therefore anyone else, no matter what their actual experience, is less qualified. It should therefore come as no surprise that one of the board members is a former RNC Chairman. Zero experience with the Postal Service, but politically reliable.

Fortunately Biden is not similarly obsessed, so he is free to choose people who have experience with and interest in the Postal Service and its issues and therefore more qualified. These people happen not to be white men, which is clearly a problem for some people. Don't worry, the majority of the board are still 'qualified' by Republican standards.

From the article in the OP:

Perhaps it's because more often than not, that fresh perspective adds no efficiency or overall improvement? I have no real problem with the idea behind affirmative action but usually, the same politics that demand places be made for racial diversity also demand those new additions be insulated from even justifiable criticism.

Just because an idea is fresh doesn't mean is any good. After all the belief that prioritizing hiring based on race isn't racist but prioritizing it based on skill and ending up with 'too many' White people somehow is - that was a "fresh idea" at one point and look how that turned out. Systematic institutional racism is even more prolific now than at any point in last half century except now its all anti-White.

....and the moment it is clear that the non white male appointees are actually qualified the discussion suddenly shifts. How remarkable. It is almost as if 'qualifications' were never the real objection to begin with.

BTW, I'm not sure what percentage of the workforce is white and male in America, but it isn't 100% or anything close to that. Yet when Biden came to office 100% of the USPS board and the Postmaster General were all white men. Even the Republican party grudgingly permits 15% or so of its Congressional delegation to be drawn from 'unqualified' demographics.

Again, your obsession with a certain demographic being inherently 'qualified' leads to another silly statement. Something tells me you can pop those out like the energizer bunny.

Why not just call me a racist and stop pussyfooting about it. You can sure read into a post like no one's business. How about just hiring people without ever considering race? I know, never happen. With democrats, they gotta pander and patronize

Diversity of thought can add fresh ideas and perspectives far more than diversity of skin color and genitalia.

Lol...as opposed to choosing people based on who will break the law to pander to the orange dotard?
If trump hadn’t tried to weaponize the USPS to help him rig the election, we wouldn’t need to waste time on it now, but we will root out all the sewer rats left behind, no matter how much the trump cult complains.

Nah, you want people to call you racist. Makes it easy for you to ignore. What you don't want people to do is pick apart your subconscious assumptions about how the world should be ordered and pick apart the falsehoods that support them.

.....and there you go again. You start with a sensible premise, but for some reason you think the party with the problem isn't the one whose Congressional delegation is over 80% white men, but the one that ensures that it engages with the other 66% of the population as well. Maybe one day you will overcome your programing to the point that you work out that 'merit' and 'qualification' don't reside so disproportionately with the third of the population that is white & male that they get to make up 100% of the USPS board or 80% of the GOP Congressional delegation. Maybe not.

Gooblygunk strawmen, you seem to excel at that.

Or maybe since the DNC passed up on a plethora of minority candidates to install *drum roll please....another old white man, they need to try saving face.

Nope. Just stuff you want top pretend isn't true.

They don't need to save face as long as there is only one major party serious about representing the other 66%.

And if Joe cannot "root out all the sewer rats", he can at least outnumber them for the time being...

Really? Anything to back up such a claim?

So having more minorities will add fresh ideas? How does that work?
