Now that may or not be true, but for the purpose of this thread, I was accepting the poster's comment as accurate. So...given that this thread is about a federal minimum wage I asked:

CBO report referenced in the OP not withstanding, I was asking the question if an increase in the minimum wage makes the economy perform better. I didn't say anything about what level it should be at, so since you are interested in my comment, what is your opinion, will a higher minimum wage make the economy perform better?

 

A fairly high minimum wage might be justified for unskilled labor if it was paid by government as a subsidy to workers employed by local small businesses - especially for neighborhood community projects.

 

A higher minimum wage will make the economy perform better.

 

Well why does the CBO report seem to say otherwise?

 

The people doing this are intelligent enough to know that millions of jobs will be lost... that is their objective. They need more people on the dole to build up their voter base. Raise the minimum wage and open the borders, it a harsh political move that will harm America but it will certainly solidify the Democrats grasp on power.

 

Democrat economies over the last 70 years are superior than Republican ones.

I saw many posts saying that the US should stop importing from China and produce goods in the US and when it was pointed out that price of goods would then go up, their response was that wages would go up too which they said was a good thing.
