JAG Writes: Atheism/Secularism wants a different kind of America than Christendom wants. The Atheistic/Secularistic ideology is not harmonious with the Christian world-view and vise versa. First there ARE many Conservative atheists in the world that stand against Liberalism -- nonetheless this OP is about a relatively small number of atheists -- the Conservative atheists -- so this OP is not going to be of much interest to most atheists who are political Liberals and not political Conservatives -- yet some atheists that have Conservative political leanings may find this OP interesting. JAG Writes: There are two opposing sides locked in ideological combat here in the 21st century. {1} Theism {2} Atheism/Secularism Both sides are writing and publishing information to support their views. Both sides have "access to information." Theism is daily filming and writing and publishing a HUGE amount of written and video material supporting Theism. Theism worldwide is very strong and very healthy. Theism is growing rapidly. See the stats below and the link. Projected: 2.8 billion Muslims plus 2.9 billion Christians by 2050. That comes out to 5.7 billion Theists by 2050. Theism or Theocracy? There are plenty of theists, including plenty of Christians who are not theocrats, and even plenty who are Christian Secularists, and who would easily find common cause with atheist conservatives on non-religious matters. And as nations grow more and more multi-cultural due to technology increasing and it becoming harder and harder for religious communities to isolate themselves from other religious communities and the secular, theocracy becomes more difficult even if secularists are a non-factor, because it becomes a question of which religion rules the nation. When you have Muslims and Christians trying to co-exist, you will need something like secularism and freedom of religion, because freedom of religion must include freedom from the other guy's religion.
I think you're going to have to break {1} down into many conflicting parts. Belief in your God and belief in the other guy's God often come into conflict. Much more often in fact than either come into conflict with atheism. Indeed your own Bible has many parts in it saying "thou shalt have no gods before me". It is the first commandment. And it goes on and on about punishing those who worship "false" Gods. Other monotheistic religions have this within them too. Secularism is actually a way around that, allowing all to practice their own religion, without forcing it upon anyone else. Theism has always been the vast majority. Being the tiny minority is nothing new for atheists. Atheism/Secularism has had some victories and we are no longer killing for heresy. I hope that doesn't revert any time soon and I don't see it happening.
In fact, secularism has existed as long as government has, and the vast majority of secularists have been theists.
