There has been 7 amnesties passed by Congress since Reagan. The last one was written and passed by Congress in 2000. Counting DACA which was instituted by Obama despite actual law then the last was in 2012. Less than 10 years ago. Just thought you should know.

Obama was the Deporter in Chief.
Deported more than any other President
    Typical Black, anti Latino behaviors.
    Invented caging children

    Blame Trump ? ?
    Why NOT :flagcanada:

BTW I donated $7K to a family whose major bread
winner was deported. He signed up for the Obama Program too.
ICE arrests you walking from home in the morning to one's car.
Even wrongfully deported take years to legally return.

I would. I would pass bills into law making it EXTREMELY painful to be caught hiring an illegal, for ANYBODY doing so, from households to large corporations. Guaranteed that this would solve the problem in no time, but of course there is no political will for it because the very large businesses that benefit the most from illegal immigration - construction, hospitality, farming - are powerful lobbies and the politicians of BOTH parties posture about it before elections but do strictly nothing after elections.

The thing is, illegal immigration is beneficial to both parties. The Dems hope to attract the vote of Hispanic US citizens eligible to vote, whose relatives are illegal aliens (and dream of an amnesty bringing in more voters for their cause). The GOP wants to have this banner to rev up the base every election, and many GOP elected officials (and Dems too) have ties to powerful lobbies for whom illegal immigration is just peachy.

So both parties posture a lot but do nothing. Bipartisan efforts to implement meaningful reform are always defeated and their proponents are berated by their peers as RINOs and DINOs.

    It's hopeless.

If a will did exist, the first order of business - among other measures - would be to DRAMATICALLY enhance - and then enforce - the penalties for offering jobs to illegals. Households should face disabling fines and businesses should face cancellation of business license and prison for the hiring officials, CEOs, and owners.

Do that for ONE month and oops, illegal immigration suddenly disappears. With no jobs, illegals self-deport and no others come back.

Jobs is what drives it. Walls are not needed. See, there is no wall separating us from Canada, but Canadians don't need to come here for jobs, so the absence of a wall doesn't result in any illegal immigration from Canada. A wall wouldn't be needed in the Southern border either, if we weren't offering any jobs whatsoever to these people.

Offer jobs and they will come, wall or not. If there is a wall, they will defeat it in a variety of ways. But no jobs, no reason to come.

Say what? How many undocumented workers did Obama hire like Open Borders Donnie?
The caging that occurred during the Obama was for 72 hours due to overcrowding, not a long-term solution as under the term of the worst president ever, Open Borders Donnie.

I was born in England and I'm an immigrant.
But I did it the hard way, the legal way and I don't call myself British American; I'm a proud American.
I've always believed that if you insist on calling yourself African American, Mexican American etc, you are insulting the USA.
I also feel resentment, as I went through to time and expense to do everything by the book but those who ignored and broke our laws will end up as citizens without working for it. :angered:

    Lets get this straight.
Illegal immigrants are criminals. entering and remaining in the US without going through the proper channels is a crime, and the basic definition of a criminal is someone who has committed a crime.
And this undocumented worker nonsense; they are illegal immigrants.
If you insist on calling a drug dealer an unlicensed pharmacist, it sugar coats the title, but it doesn't change the underlying crime in the least.

Why would you apply the lack of laws from centuries ago, to today's situation?
Many liberals want to rewrite history, but you want to make history apply to today....

I have two members of my family who came to the US through the legal channels. One is Filipino, the other Honduran. They don't have any respect for those who did not come through legally.

On top of committing a crime by coming illegally or overstaying visas, many commit Identify theft to gain a job.

Well I suppose we could always pass mandatory E-Verify. That would take care of the employer problem...I'm sure Congress will get right on it!

Pardon me, but you wouldn't happen to have an article associated with this post would you? I was interested to read up on the proposed legislation, but found instead a thread that sounds like it belongs in the Opinion section given that there's no article linked.

Which of them came here illegally?

Who did you copy and paste that from and then break copyright infringement? Are you trying to get this site shut down?

Well you're exactly right on that. The GOP opposes doing anything about the issue as much as the Democrats do, so all they got done was tax cuts and not much else.

The problem with Thatcher is that she couldn't run her government without 'other people's money'

And no, the gov doesn't run out, they just tax the next year, borrow, or print.

It's a catchy phrase, but, in point of fact, it's vacuous, i.e.,meaningless.

A good quote is one that bears some semblance of actually being true.

See, once a tax is paid, it is no longer your money, it becomes the property of 'we the people', which, all of us, by virtue of our citizenship and residency in America, give our collective consent. Taxes, per se, are not the issue, where we debate is how much and where should it be spent, noting that no tax policy will ever please everyone.

Moreover, it never was your money, as the constitutions tells us that the state has a legitimate claim on a portion of your income.

This! X 100000! What the literal f*** did they think would happen by nominating a blow hard game show host who was big on play ground taunts and weak on, well, everything else?

I agree with this too. Running that ***** hillary was almost as negligent as us nominating the orange retard. And we won one! No one cold make this sh**show up. However, as I predicted on inauguration day in 2016 the GOP will be the worse for wear in 2020. I was right in spades.

Oh, and there's a LOT more heading this way from Central America now that good ol' 'progressive' Joe's in office!

I found an old Disney cartoon from 1931, titled "Mickey's Orphans" that gives a likely representation of the kind of thing that's going to happen to us once these new 'caravans' with many thousands Central American and Mexican peasants begin arriving in OUR country.

    Take a good, wide-open look:

[IMG] . "Happy Days Are Here Again!" Right, Joe...?

Right because why would we want to keep prices down for stuff like shelter and food? F*** American consumers! That are already too fat and stupid.

And after his first full week in office has been completed do you think ol' Joe's going to say, "Wait a minute! Bringing in tens of thousands of illegals into the country is JUST HORRIBLY WRONG!"

I think we all know better than that.... :nana:
