For starters, because a bunch of people are experiencing adverse effects because of them. The VAERS database provides a small sampling of this. I'm not going to risk things such as allergic reactions, autoimmune issues, bell's palsy, paralysis, and death for a disease that is easily treatable and easy to recover from.

    Yes.

Its a wind up. All the ones making these daft comments without any back up are just people fishing to see how many they can catch.

How do you explain that the wearing of the mask have been lifted in many places? Maybe the worst is over.

I would doubt the worst would be yet to come. The worst of this pandemic was felt most of last year when Trump was at the helm. Trump led us to never never land.

"As Canada’s covid-19 situation crescendos into an unambiguous crisis — with spiking cases breaking daily records and causing overcrowded hospitals, ever-stricter lockdowns provoking ever-greater backlash, and chronic vaccine shortages leading to one of the lowest fully vaccinated populations in the Western world, with some Canadians flying into the United States in search of a shot — few in the Canadian media seem able to offer a coherent explanation for how things got so bad. . . . "

He's already had it back in January. It's a matter of public record. He just did it secretively so as to not lose the support of his rabid base.

Much the same as Tucker Carlson if his refusal to confirm or deny is anything to go by.

That was just tongue in cheek. Yes...he did get the shot. ( Or it was reported that he did. ) It is just hard to know what one can believe when i t comes to him. Tucker Carlson is another piece of work.

    Oh well...

It defies logic really. He's very keen to claim credit for the vaccines but appears very reluctant to encourage people to actually take them.

Exactly. If he had been more encouraging......I bet there would have been a lot less Vax resistance.

A sceptical person might conclude that he cares more about the support of his base than he does for their health.

Since the mandetory mask has been removed in many places the COVID-19 isn't as contagious as it was last year. and isn't that bad either.

It's being lifted in many places due to increased pressure from people who are starting to figure out that they have been duped this whole time.

In the Fall, it is thought by some doctors that the majority of jabbed individuals will have a rather bad time with being exposed to garden variety coronaviruses. We'll see.

By removing government red tape so that vaccines could be made in record time?

Yet were still behind vaccines developed without being a part of Trump's warp speed initiative.
Now some people are refusing to take the vaccine because red tape was removed and they feel they have not been tested properly.
There's just no winning with some people.
By some people I mean those who think it necessary to write experts in quotation marks.

I agree with skipping the mask outdoors: it's been long known the transmission is much less likely outdoors.

However, it should be kept on inside as an extra precaution. Besides, many deniers will now pretend they have been vaccinated and will not wear it inside or outside. Not so dangerous outside, but the risk is higher inside, specially of transmission from non-vaccinated to non-vaccinated.

It looks like the CDC director statement was a bit hasty and thoughtless to say the least.
