Corporal punishment still happening in American schools? WTF?

Teaching a kid to bend over and submit to humiliation is sick and depraved. I guess some actually enjoyed it in their school days. Thus we have today’s GOP congressional delegation who bend over every time Trump’s speaks. Once I was out of Jr. High I realized that as a human being, I needed to defend myself. You want to hit me, be prepared to get your own ass beat. What I found out was that the sickos doing the beating were gutless pukes. They folded like tents and looked for weaker kids to assault.

I'm usually against physical punishment of children in most situations but there are more extreme situations where it is appropriate, if other forms of punishment are not getting through, you have good reason to believe the child is not remorseful, or sometimes if what the did is serious enough, involving hurting another child or animal. Age plays a role too. Some children are not old enough to have things explained to them but are old enough to understand what a physical punishment means.

Yes, it can be a slippery slope, and should be used with hesitancy and caution, and not used very often.

I don't believe an all or nothing strategy is a good approach to take. Physical punishment is neither all good or all bad.

I think there are many children who will never need physical punishment to be used on them, but there are also certain problem children where it might be part of good parenting.

 

Hey if you want, send your kids off to school in a place that will beat them as they please. There will always be a future Dennis Hastert there to get their kicks....

I'm a responsible adult, and respect authority, because I was afraid of my father and his belt. Most of these little shits running around doing dumb **** do dumb **** because they didn't have the same.

Ever see that lady in the store with zero control of her kids. They tell her no, don't listen, cause a ruckus and the mother takes the "kids will be kids, positive reinforcement only" stupidity?

It certainly is in my book. Most sane school districts have already deemed it as such.

It is hard for sane kids to have any respect for someone who abuses them violently. Also it is hard to respect police who beat someone who is in handcuffs and defenseless. That type of behavior is right in the same category as child molesting.
