Homeschooling requires nothing more than determination. Anyone can do it, if they're determined and committed. It's a exercise in effort, not IQ.

Then people don't need to go to university to become teachers?

I know many people do not like the idea of physical punishment of children in schools, but there are many schools these days with "community resource officers", which are basically like police officers in schools to use physical force against unruly children and treat them like criminals because the teachers aren't allowed to lay a hand on them.

Sorry to say but the "dirty work" has got to be done by someone. Having police officers on standby to "deal" with children is not more humane than a paddling.

My point(s) above about retaliation have received suggestions that amount to escalation as in to choke a child.
It has been known for parents to advise their children how to deal with bullying by hitting the bully back, to stand up for themselves.
In that context there may well be a desire to hit back against any adult who assaults them.
    Not unsurprisingly.
What do adults do with the choke hold on a child who fights back?
    Sustain it to unconsciousness?
If the chokehold is released what do the adults do if the child continues to retaliate (as advised to do against bullies)?
All of this could arise from something originally seen by many to be trivial.
The word spanking is like the term 'white lie'. A lie is a lie and assault is assault.

Given the behavior of children who grew up when spanking was ubiquitous as opposed to the behavior of children who group up during the “don’t spank kids” movement as an aggregate... I’ll take spanking any day of the week.

OK, when ever you are bad,
a person much larger than you should be able to come to your house and "spank" you. Can you deal with people who are bigger and stronger than you?

Positions of authority exist in multiple formats for children. School is one of them.

I bet if every time I did something bad or mean someone came to my house and put a good ole fashion ass whoopin on me, I wouldn’t keep doing that stuff.

I raised two boys who both got college baseball scholarships. I taught them never to bend over and take it in the ass from any creep in or out of school.

Smacking a kid on the ass when they are toddlers is a long way from letting a Junior High Gym teacher to assault your kid in front of class with a wooden board.

Never had to beat anyone up. I simply refused to submit to any physical abuse at a certain point and made that clear to the abusers. They never tried it again. By the time my kids went to public schools, the practice of beating and humiliating kids had been abolished in our school district.

They do what their paying customers want, and as far as I know, it's not illegal. Many private schools are parochial, and have swatting policies that correspond to religious beliefs (spare the rod, spoil the child), but not all.

My son's private school does not have corporal punishment. They simply expel kids that repeatedly cause trouble.

Sorry, I never went to a school who beat children. I did attend a few who would paddle your ass if you became unruly. Seemed to work like a charm. It did for me anyway.

If you “paddled someone’s ass” because they became unruly, as you say and were caught today you would be charged with assault and battery and sexual assault. Most civilized schools have long abandoned this idiotic practice. This was a sick and twisted practice. I am surprised that some schools still allow it.

Not strictly claiming causality, but out schools have progressively ranked lower worldwide in actual education.

Oh. Now its assault and battery and sexual assault?
    Laughable

But once schools decided to cave, now we have an entire generation of entitled brats. All you have to do is watch them refuse to comply thinking they have some power over an arresting officer and get shot in the process to know how this unpaddled generation turned out.
