Dr. Fauci says vaccinated people can't dine indoors or go to the movies

This is consistent with what the rep. at my local Department of Health said. She told me that they "don't know much and guidelines are changing almost daily".

Do you feel reassured knowing that you will get the vaccines at some point or more concerned that we will still have to wear masks, social distance and avoid groups for an indefinite period?

    What do you think?

He warns against indoor events as you might be immune but you would still be capable of carrying the virus and giving it to someone else. My wife and I get our second shot on March 5th. Just getting the first shot was a good feeling to be going in the right direction. I'm sure I'll feel even better after March 5th.

So, get both vaccine shots and still have to wear 2 masks and socially distance. So, what good is the vaccine then?

We will probably end up wearing masks about as much as most East Asians do into the foreseeable future. Social distancing will stay around too. I doubt that restaurants and large crowd venues will be closed for more than a year after herd immunity is achieved.

    What? You want Covid back?

Well, it'll mean that our chances of catching it from you will be much less so we can let the Darwin Protocols work without much danger of our dying too. I feel really irritated about dying due to someone else's conscious choice to be a god-cursed idiot.

It might go a long way in saving your life to have the shots. It might go a long way for saving another person's life who hasn't had their shots yet since you're capable of carrying the virus and transmitting it to someone else.

The economy was superficially held up based on the idea that covid was temporary. The strings of hope are broken. This douchbag has destroyed confidence in our economy because he cannot keep his mouth shut. Not to mention, no one is getting vaccine if we still have to 'play pandemic'. He should only be speaking toward the science, not 'speculative' policy.

I've already had it. Got over it in a little over a week. Didn't even get sick. All that happened was I lost my sense of taste and smell, so the end result is I lost some weight and I quit smoking because I couldn't stand the taste of them. Hell, everyone should get COVID twice a year if that is all that happens...

I'm glad you recovered. However, that is not "all that happens" for some people. My cousin (44) and his mom (75) literally dropped dead. It happened last month and I'm still in shock. I really wish it was as mild as it sounds like it was for you. Some people (half a million in US now) weren't that fortunate.

I agree that masks and some social distancing are becoming our new normal. It's tragic that so many businesses have had to close permanently due to all this. It's a financial mess.

When did I say that I wanted COVID back?

I'm reassured that I maintain a strong immune system with proper nutrition, exercise and giving it lots of practice by not trying to live a sterile life. Im far more worried that we're going to 'social distance' the economy into a collapse that will leave many more dead from poverty than were ever at risk of dying from covid in a healthy economy. Of course, as people become malnutritioned and unable to stay warm, the covid (and flu and TB and all other ailments) will skyrocket, and 'the news' will just say we have more 'pandemics'... and neither is going to threaten my health in any case because the economy wasn't built to protect people like me. But I do worry for others...

I'm afraid you are correct. The long-term damage to people's jobs and small businesses will ripple for a long, long time. I, too, worry for others.

That's odd. I always thought that the idea behind having the vaccine was to reduce deaths and hospitalisation. If it was just to allow us not to need to wear a mask then none of us need a vaccine as wearing a mask is no big deal

I don't particularly care what Dr Fraudci or Dementia Joe say. Fraudci/Biden rhetoric is no more meaningful than Fraudci/Trump rhetoric.

As long as state governors remain sovereign and have a final say on freedoms or restrictions, then I'm bound by Texas' health regulations. Thank goodness I'm here and not in a blue state. We have a mask mandate, but restaurants/bars reopened last August.

There was over 500,000 people that had more than that happen. I'd say you were lucky.

Did you all have any spikes since things reopened in August? What about around the holidays?

I'm in IL and our Governor is using a step system for reopening whereby everything will not be completely open until we have below a certain percentage of cases and deaths.

you are correct about "some people" and you must also address the 800 pound gorilla in the room and that is co-morbidities.

The panic and politicizing of the virus is shameful and needs to stop.

The fact is that MOST people if they catch it, have mild symptoms. We will never know just how many folks ever had Covid

I think it's a helluva note when bureaucrats run the government. This shows that the cynical view that democracy does not exist in this country is valid and true.

Operation Covid has succeeded beyond their wildest imagination.

I think government will do whatever is least risky for itself as it always does. Fauci is way to far into politics to be a credible voice. I prefer to listen to the epidemiologists who are not so political.
