All thru the mid section of the country all the way from Texas to North Dakota we are having rolling black outs because the lack of power.

But the radical left wing greenies say we should all be driving "clean" electric cars. How can that happen if we dont even have enough power generation to keep the lights on. Where is the power for 300 million plus electric cars going to come from?

In this mess we have right now, windmills are froze up, and solar panels are covered with snow. So the hoped for an lauded "green energy" is a bust.

I presume people expect "transportation welfare" where taxpayers have to buy the poor cars because theirs are unable to get fuel.
I guess they have to will re learn to ride bicycles.

We can always burn more coal and NG.. But we have to keep that secrete from the tree huggers, they think electricity come from fire fly farms..

If we all had green cars they would shut off the grid and make us isolate in the name of COVID so six of one, half a dozen of the other I suppose.

If the country bases its energy policy on a storm that hits once every 50 years, then the country is pretty short sighted.
But whatever, dude - you just keep posting your hair on fire threads.

That's an odd way of looking at it! The global warming push has been using that silly excuse and tactic for five decades now.. Intersting take and post Daniel, you always bring the obvious to the table Sir!!

    Well done!

Right now I think that all the radical left wing greenies that hate fossil fuel should shut off there gas and power, so the rest of us can continue with our lives.

I wouldn't presume that. I would presume that, when alternative energy has matured and becomes less expensive than petroleum, people will abandon petroleum. It is the natural course of a market economy.

Sure - all those left leaning corporate types can shut down the internet they created and you can continue with your life.

Stop with the dramatics. It's a once in 50 year storm, it's stupid to get all crazy.

Absolutely right. It's like the people who freaked out when the rotary dial phone was phased out, or horses were
    replaced.

I got out in my hybrid this morning. Because it was 8F the car told me it was essentially not going to even try using the batteries until it warmed up enough... Good thing the gasoline engine still worked. I suppose only getting like 22mpg because it's cold is still better than not being able to get out....

Oh, and for roughly half of my little town, no one has power. Why? Because they chose to check the "use green alternative" even though it costs more, just to feel good about themselves, and well, that power isn't being produced and won't be for another couple of days while the wind turbines are shut down (icing) and the solar farms being blanketed in snow. But hey. The NG plants are all up and running. Yee haw. Our power is from NG plants, so, so far, we still have power.

Nobody around here drives electric cars and we have no rolling blackouts. Life goes on pretty normally here in flyover country.

LOL... You're the guy who tells us global warming is real because somewhere there is a hurricane.... Here's the thing. This isn't a "once in 50 years_ kind of storm. For some of us, this cold is unprecedented in modern (1850s) to the present. It portends the future? Hard to say, but for all of the BS about it never ever snowing again in TX, well, that's just another hyperbole AGW and democrats have to eat.

Oh, and when it warms up again, one hopes next week, perhaps all the snow and ice will melt and we can try restarting our wind and solar down here. Until then, NG is about the only thing providing electricity to anyone here.

And the price of NG is spiking - while the cost of Solar and wind power will remain basically the same once this freak storm
is over ... there's nothing that is perfect in this world.

I suppose that it never occurred to you that the price of Wind and Solar are about double what NG costs... So even the temp spike still won't touch the price of green here.

Where have I ever said that a single hurricane proves global warming? Why do you always feel the need to lie about what
    I say?

Curious how cities are going to solve plugging in all those cars along the streets when they're parked? Quite the conundrum for so many homes without garages. Guess they'll stretch the chords out to the sidewalks? Easy picking to steal those custom chords.

Lovely and how do you explain away the rolling blackouts in CA last summer? Not enough bee farts and unicorn dust? Why do you think Germany's going back to clean coal for a significant portion of their electric power.

Easy to say if your energy has not been impacted. If you were huddled up in a house with no heat and your water pipes were freezing you would be singing from a different song sheet.

How does the heat work in these electric cars during a blizzard and how is the range impacted?

Liberal folks believe in the electricity fairy. It's hard to understand these folks who never ever worry about the how, just the "cause I told you so part"...
