No one has mentioned this so I will. After having done a gazillion oil changes over the years, and having to dispose of this hazardous waste, it’s a no brainer going to EVs ON THAT ITEM ALONE.

Anyone who has swapped out their noisy, smelly, unreliable 2 stroke chainsaw for an electric one should understand the advantages.

So you decided to rant against my opinions and fiction with some opinion and fiction of your own? Spare me.

No, you just think you do.
Ask anyone who has, not many regret going electric.

Not 100% I think. Since the batteries have to move themselves, a point comes where things start going backward. That is opinion, of course, as is your statement.

Sweet. Show me the actual cost of durable battery storage for a house who is consuming roughly 150KWs a day that will last for 8 days. I'll wait.

You will note that I used the word conservatives not republican politicians. All politicians, regardless of political party, want all the spending they can have. We have allowed them to make it major base of their power.

To explain further, conservatives view federal government as a source of many of the problems our country faces and liberals see solutions in federal government. For me that means that very few politicians can really be considered to be a true conservative. The left and right argue over individual issues but at base of all issues - government power and spending - they are exactly the same. Republicans complain about spending but they don't do anything to reduce it.

I have pretty good opinion of human ingenuity. We stumble and fall from time to time but we do well for the majority of the time. I believe we will get better at alternative energy sources over time. We could even replace petroleum at some point. My desire is that we leave government out of it. As technology improves and costs change, the free market will do the best for humanity. If that means that it makes sense to abandon petroleum at some point then so be it. We just need to stop forcing the issue before we are ready for it.

How many houses use 150kw a DAY?

The AVERAGE daily consumption is ONLY 30 kw's a DAY.

So WHY must we use YOUR absurd DEMAND that is FIVE times HIGHER than normal?

MILLIONS of Texans are FREEZING and without WATER because YOUR "free market" FAILED to do what is "best of humanity" AGAIN!

Why do you PERSIST in REPEATING the same MISTAKES?

I believe the culprit was not the free market. It was a cold snap caused by the jet stream extending all the way to Mexico which drew arctic air throughout the center of the country. Why do you continue to capitalize words assuming that I can't read them in lower case?

I'm just looking at my consumption for my house during the event as I have to pay the bill for this. My heat pumps were unable to maintain 65F during the event and NEVER stopped for over a week. There are LOTS of folks who experienced this as well. And folks who were on Propane (no NG here) ran out of large storage and were in the same boat as their mutti stage HVACs had no propane to overcome the insufficiencies of the heat pumps. Of course, that's for folks who never lost their power entirely. I know some folks who were using GeoThermal that were going through >200KWs a day, (trying to keep their pools from freezing)

Don't think "average" is sufficient to describe this event because it was not average. Meaning that an "average" solution would have run out of capacity well before the event ended and wouldn't have been sufficient.

Why not just correct his number and answer his question using your average consumption figure?

The CULPRIT was Q-GOP GREED that ensured that there were ZERO safeguards against cold snaps that DO occur!

I didn't say you were. He asked a question. I didn't read any anecdote in the post. If you don't have an answer you should just say so and move.

So, where do conservatives reside in the gov. ? I really don’t care about conservatives who are citizens; they don’t have control over spending the money. And, they certainly aren’t voting for democrats. If they aren’t in the gop, where are they ?

it seems like you want both sides by putting all politicians in the same box. They aren’t.
