If it were try it we would find out. But since we haven't tried it the mystery remains.

    You are welcome.

Quite astounding how UNINFORMED libertarians are of the documented FAILURES of their own ideology BEGINNING with the Articles of Confederation right through their LATEST disaster in Kansas!

    Sad!

Gosh... Now I have to also produce a solution for us? Way to move that goal post.. I've gone down the Tesla whole home battery thing. I'll tell you, for about 100K that you could have kept the lights on for about a day and a half. Then what? If my roof solar wasn't producing, all I have left is the grid. These are just the facts of life for a solar house. It's also the facts of the inability of most heat pumps that don't have emergency heat modes that aren't tied to other fuel sources, like NG or Propane.

It is pretty fun to watch folks, like you, who couldn't if pressed actually produce a cogent argument, I mean, see above where you're vastly more interested in shaming your political tormentors than otherwise offering up solutions yourself. There's nothing fictitious about the observations that I've supplied. Ask anyone how suddenly they've gone from a $250 bill per month to one that is $22K. (Active case in tx. look it up. Class action against ERCOT.) This was unfortunately the case, and ERCOT itself was the agency that allowed variable power producers to share $9 a kilowatt hour. Do the f'in math on that. And that reflects ~ a week of usage. for these folks. Many folks, like the one suing ERCOT got "notifications" in email on a Friday afternoon that alerted customers that their bills were about to bankrupt them, and disclosed the future expenses, of course, on a Friday afternoon, switching your service (oh, and in conjunction with an Historic winter storm) was impossible. And given that these services simply dip into your bank accounts for payment for increments of the next $100s folks, like the aggrieved in the suit found their bank accounts couldn't keep up with the withdrawals. In this case, the woman didn't discover it until over 2K had been removed.

The true failure here is that folks NEVER actually engineer to the "worst case" because it's super expensive to do so. But suggesting that half assed measures would have otherwise overcome this historic event are laughable. So, in your estimation, being rejoined to the national grid, (in good times, TX would become a net exporter of power fyi, and not sure you ever considered that) would have prevented these outages? You mean, like.... gasp.... Kalifornia? The state that actually is connected to the national grid and still provides third world like services? Rolling brown outs and all??? Like that??? LOL. On building codes... Provide some examples then. Show your work instead of just the hyperbole that you normally provide.

The private sector will provide national defense, interstate commerce and infrastructure, and healthcare ? Try buying a new car after that.

Thats impossible to do. The number of federal employees has not increased for decades. It’s no bigger then it was in the 1969s.

Not. only that, but states have NO AUTHORITY OR CONTROL on interstate and overseas transactions. The biggest increase in our GDP growth has been related to trade and commerce in businesses from one state to another and from states overseas.

Any reduction in the Fed is offset by state and local taxation. How long have you had this dream of states providing their own interstate and overseas commerce and defense and healthcare.
    Good luck Mississippi.

Libertarians are nothing more then people who want freebees like republicans but don’t want to be called a republican out of embarrassment. They are Republicans that like Sushi and drive Volvos.

There is NOTHING that any state does that doesn’t involve interstate or international commerce .

I do think that one of the appropriate four roles for federal government is resolving interstate disputes. The others are defending the country, dealing and treating with other countries, and maintaining a stable currency. I also think the federal government should report to the states, not vice versa. I'm a firm believer in the concept of a union of states as envisioned by the founders. So I disagree with you.

A Failed view. So the Fed moderates disputes. Who enforces them? You just opened a Pandora’s box. You just sanctioned the EPA. Wanna try for two ? How about healthcare. Do you think your state can handle even just your healthcare needs ? So covid just stops at every state line. What a well behaved virus.
Funny. The founders met to ESTABLISH a center government, hmmm. Just the opposite of what you’re making believe.

I didn't say that. You did. National defense belongs in federal government. Interstate commerce belongs in the states with federal government provided dispute resolution. Healthcare obviously doesn't belong in government at all.

It is hard to do, I'll grant you that. But certainly possible by moving most of what federal government does to the states, the private sector and the trash can.

    Just a matter of legislation.

No doubt. The states would be the taxing authority. Federal government could and should be funded by the states and responsible to them. We do have federal congress. What is the problem with Mississippi?

Wrong, it’s co funded by the state with guard units who share the responsibility. Healthcare doesn’t belong in govt ? Who takes care of soldiers when they are wounded. Who monitors global pandemics, states ? Every statement you make has a big hole in it.

Huh ? States have taxation authority ? California just became a country, as did NY and Texas. Wtf should they fund Mississippi and all the other red states that suck off the Fed tit. So much for America. Narrow minded much !

I've thought this stuff over for decades. I can assure you I know what I'm talking about. But I don't have the energy to explain the details to you. I thought about writing a book but it became obvious to me that nobody cares so it would be a waste of time. Feel free to criticize what I write. I don't really care.

If just sitting there thinking for a long time made everyone smarter, maybe we should replace medical and engineering classes with solitary confinement.

I’d erase your last post quickly. It’s embarrassing.

Battery costs on average maybe $500 per kWh. Obviously these alternative energy systems are not for you...you whine about the equipment and now about the cost. NOTHING IS FREE! What are YOUR costs for having periods of no power when utility power is down? What are your costs over the long haul buying power from your utility? What are your cost benefits of selling excess power to your utility? What are the costs to society and the environment if we don't try to do better?
