Well, I’ve been saying this all along - how can we not have immunity to a virus, whose very close relative we encounter several times per year.
Considering the fact above, I wonder, are we hurting ourselves with these masks? If the masks hinder the spread of common cold then we will be losing our immunity. More young people will die because their immunity wears off.

Hey, thanks for sharing that. I didn’t realize the study was through peer review and published. I linked to the pre print a while back, but being it’s good news it was largely ignored. A lot of people are angered by good news here. :) Hopefully your presentation of the now peer reviewed study will be met with more sanguinity.

wait, are these folks implying that letting our immune system do what it's done for centuries might be the best path forward?

Being exposed to other coronaviruses actually prepares us for the more potent ones when they appear?

So how does locking away people in their homes, keeping them 6 feet apart and masked up allow anyone to build their immune system?

That’s exactly my point. I think the quarantine can lead to a bunch of people wearing off their immunity and getting sick in the upcoming winter. We are literally sacrificing our kids and healthy adults in an attempt to save those who will probably die in the next couple of years.

I hate to tell you this, but Coronaviruses aren't named by their genetic similarity to other Coronaviruses, but, instead, they are grouped together based on their looks alone.

As for the infection outcomes, I have no idea. I just thought it was randomly how bad the infection treats the lungs.
