The most disgusting food is refried beans, navy beans and pinto beans. They taste like dirt and look like little bugs.
The people who don't like coriander (or cilantro if you are referring to the fresh leaves) do so for genetic reasons. IIRC, for about 10% of the population cilantro tastes like soap. I'm a big fan of pork (including bacon), cilantro/coriander and salad.
It's a mix of spices, a sauce and usually pasta that are mixed with browned ground beef. I'm not a big fan personally, but have tried it. It's a quick meal. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamburger_Helper
One of the few fruits I don't like. I've only had good mango once, and it was fresh and of a variety not often found in grocery stores. Got it at a fruit stand (Robert is Here) at the edge of the Everglades in far south Florida.
A plantain is a banana relative. It can be cooked like potatoes (i.e. plantain chips are similar to potato chips, etc.) If you let plantains ripen, they taste like bananas. Very popular in the Caribbean.
You mix hamburger (ground or minced beef) with it as well. It's a quick, cheap meal (if the ground beef isn't too expensive). As I said, I'm not a big fan, I'd rather just brown some ground beef, cook some pasta and make a quick sauce.
From what I've researched, cheddar cheese is only yellow when you add annato dye to it. White is it's natural state.
Not so. Cheddar is quite old, and is therefore always creamy yellow. The ageing process darkens it from the cream colour it starts as. If you're referring to the orange cheese that Americans eat, that is indeed dyed. No one else does that .. it seems peculiar to America. Incidentally, mature cheeses are never white. White cheese is necessarily very fresh (young) and soft or semi-soft, so only things like Ricotta and Mascarpone, etc. There is no solid or hard cheese which is white, other than I think one or two Italian sheep cheeses. If you're eating solid 'cheese' which is white, you're eating something other than cheese.
What I don't understand is, if you can't afford meat, why not just become vegetarian? Or do your meat rationing more thoughtfully ... and instead of 'filling' with processed crap, just use less and enjoy a better result. Or make your own healthy fillers with fresh herbs and wholemeal breadcrumbs or brown rice. So many vastly better options than 'hamburger helper'.
How can you not like eggs! They are awesome. Although I knew this lady whose daughter absolutely could not stand potatoes. She likened them to "wet sand". Foods that I can't stand: off the top of my head, carrots (doesn't matter if they are cooked or raw), and bell pepper. There might be more.
I can't stand no food - because that's the option you get if you're unlucky enough. That's when life gets hungry. How do you cook it? I can order it, I can even buy the chips, but....... IDK how to cook it. I guess I can fry it. Roast it too with potatoes maybe and poultry.
tomato sauce...or ketchup... I'm also highly offended if you drown my cooking with half a bottle of sauce, I will tolerate the use of "some"
Mango smoothies are awesome! (one ripe mango, one cup French vanilla yogurt, ice and a healthy dash of cinnamon).yum!
That warm feeling sloppy joe gives you is actually all that ketchup having its horrid way with your insides.
Hamburger helper is just that, something to help hamburger. It pretty much makes browned ground beef into a casserole type dish. Why do this instead of from scratch? It's quicker. That said, I'm not a big fan, and if I wanted to eat that kind of thing, I would make it from scratch.
I've usually eaten plantains fried, either as potato chips or as chunks of plantain (akin to potato wedges).
I've never made sloppy joes with ketchup. I either use canned sloppy joe mix (tomato paste/sauce with spices) or a packet of sloppy joe spices with tomato paste.
I've got a tin of it in my cupboard with a best before date of 2011. I brought it back from my deceased father's house in France as an easy meal while camping on the return journey to England. I couldn't bring myself to eat it though as I imagine it will have too much sugar and soggy over cooked veg in it. I guess the best thing to do with it would be to hide it in a lasagne smothered in cheese sauce.
