God is our Creator and He has a good Plan
for those who love Him and who desire to
please Him.

The Man Named Job , , ,
God in His wisdom tested Job and tested him
severely too.

And what was Job's reaction?

Here it is , ,

"Naked I came from my mother’s womb,
and naked I will depart.
The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away;
may the name of the Lord be praised.”
In all this, Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing."

"In the land of Uz there lived a man whose name was Job.
This man was blameless and upright; he feared God and
shunned evil."

Here is part of the story of how God tested Job.

Messenger # 1
One day when Job’s sons and daughters were feasting and drinking
wine at the oldest brother’s house, a messenger came to Job and said,

“The oxen were plowing and the donkeys were grazing nearby,
and the Sabeans attacked and made off with them.

They put the servants to the sword, and I am the only one who has
escaped to tell you!”

Messenger # 2
While he was still speaking, another messenger came and said,
“The fire of God fell from the heavens and burned up the sheep
and the servants, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!”

Messenger # 3
While he was still speaking, another messenger came and said,
“The Chaldeans formed three raiding parties and swept down on
your camels and made off with them. They put the servants to the
sword, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!”

Messenger # 4
While he was still speaking, yet another messenger came and said,
“Your sons and daughters were feasting and drinking wine at the
oldest brother’s house, when suddenly a mighty wind swept in
from the desert and struck the four corners of the house.
It collapsed on them and they are dead, and I am the only
one who has escaped to tell you!”

Job's Response To All This Tragedy Was , , ,
At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head.

Then he fell to the ground in worship and said:

“Naked I came from my mother’s womb,
and naked I will depart.
The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away;
may the name of the Lord be praised.”

In all this, Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing.

How are we to distinguish between JAG's mentality here and that of a nazi concentration camp worker? Or between him and a 9/11 terrorist? He is only saying to blindly follow orders right? He needs to please God, no matter what. God is with him. Gott mit uns.

 

Yes that is what happens when someone submits themselves to blind obedience without question. It is why any kind of fundamentalism must be fought against and is so dangerous.

The vast majority of atheists and theists alike dont lack or repress all and any sense of morality other than obedience to power. Those who are such blind authoritarian followers are dangerous, regardless of religious or political label.

Dressing it up with one's religion doesn't change that. Thankfully most Christians (and Jews and Muslims) retain their own senses of empathy and morality and don't obey voices in their heads telling them to kill their children or kill witches, apostates or infidels, regardless of what is written in their holy texts.
