I know - Metallica with Britney Spears -

they could do a Gothic Metal album with "Beauty and the Beast" style vocals ... like this group

    Within Temptation - Enter

That chump singer from System of a Down-er is a RESIST Democrat lackey always bashing Trump too. It's like - dude get real. There is a difference between being a protester and just being a pest. These newbies can't tell Democrat Party astroturf groups, they're controlled by billionaires, banksters, and Killary Clintons friends in the Intel Agencies ... hello ... Mueller is FBI.

I wonder if all these musicians like Iron Maiden going back on tour (again) to replay their BEST OF hits for the 30 the year in a row, ever bother to tell Axl Rose and Dave Grohl they're making arses out of themselves preaching to everybody to hate Trump. Obama and Clinton bombed more people and started more wars than Bush by far.

But then Maiden is charging $200.00 bucks a pop to bellow Aces High for the 300th time.:bleh:

Do the dittoheads at Blabbermouth.net realize that reason you need a Fakebook login in order to
comment there is because they only want people who are sheeple posting there ... :wall:

"Yes - Metallica, everything they touch is gold, Kirk Hammets leads are great, and Ozzy has still good albums!" :blahblah:

I thought Metal was supposed to a counter culture backlash and not a corporate cash-in ...:confuse::hippie:

The American Metal groups in particular count on their audiences being non-discerning consumer zombies. In fact, they bank on it !
    :brainless:

I mean it's all frigging Radio Disney now anyways- whether you're Demi Lovato groomed since age 7 on "Barney and Friends" all the way to Hollywood Records Disney division wear butt floss and dressing like a whore with 5 other half naked sluts on the bed, or Maiden and Kiss corporation, who if they aren't autotuning or lip syncing, are selling dollies and endorsing Marshall stack beer coolers like Slayers Kerry King ... a month after Jeff Hanneman drank himself to death ...

these people make me sick Demi Lovato ... corp. trash singer and junkie

Neo-classical might have been the greatest evolution of metal... for me anyways. Like... if I cannot hear "classical inspiration" in a solo, I'm probably not interested. Tons of credit must be given to Yngwie Malmsteen. Not everyone tried to emulate him, but the metal world took notice and realized they were missing out on a lot. Virtuous shred guitarists are a dime a dozen today, and I'm pretty happy about that!

Here's someone I've started listening to recently. He's not the most technical, but he makes up for it in feel and composition.

    Angel Vivaldi's great.

I grew up around Classical music - my dad was into Classical and Opera - so I think it was natural for me to gravitate towards its electric offspring. When it comes to fusing Classical, Opera and Metal, Judas Priest remains the gold standard for me. There just aren't many vocalists who have possessed Rob Halford's ability, range and background:

I can't say I'm familiar with this band but Carl Von Clausewitz posted this in the "What Are You Listening To?" thread and I thought I'd drop it over here...

    OK.:rage:

I could handle all your Judas Priest stuff ( I always myself thought "Screaming"/ "Defenders" are dogs**t records from the date of their release. ) during the MTV live Priest concert for Screaming my Mom goes on about Rob Halford leather cap, sunglasses, studded belts, and pants saying, "Hey, isn't that a Gay guy outfit he's wearing?" I said no, it's what all Metal guys wear studs and leather it's just a costume - my Mom used to watch "the Ultimate Revenge video w/ my friends and I after she knew we were outside for a smoke when we were just fifteen - ( hey thats illegal minors with cigs !) now we can't even smoke outdoors, on patios, in parks, anywhere in town, except in our car or apartment, without being ticketed by POLICE for tobacco! But Marijuana is legal recreationally! I digress - Mom used to watch "the Ultimate Revenge video w/ my friends and I Slayer, Exodus, and Venom, while my Dad was asleep. She said, "Turn it up, man!" My 15 year old friends, were like, "your Mom is cool."

Anways TALON, THIS IS THE FINAL STRAW. Look. I will praise Lars Ulrich all day long, I dig the drums on St. Anger, it's so Progressive and original and Thrash and the Live video Lars pours his heart out into that St. Anger thing. I get tendonitis, arthritis, carpal tunnel, and feel my rotator cuffs start to ache, even feel dislocated at times just watching him. But you , and your God d--ned Hetfield - Stone Cold Crazy, you Hetfield guys with your Whiskey in the Jar-o, you Hetfield and your Bob Seeger Soylent Cowpies - damn you, damn you all to hell !

You blew it up, you maniacs !!!

    You blew it all up.:evileyes::rage:

OK so maybe I am exaggerating. NO

But that *******ned Away gut from VoiVod and his Dimension Hatross retread disc "The Wake" damn HIM all to hell and his damn interviews

    Away:

"I don’t like the political side of let’s say, the Star Wars project. We’re into the technical side of all the nuclear weaponry. We’re not for or against nuclear war, we just talk about it. Just like a cartoon or a comic book. Some people think we’re political, but we’re really not, that gets old pretty fast"

WHAT !?! DAMN YOU VOIVOD, AWAY.

i THOUGHT YOU STOOD FOR SOMETHING.

And James Hetfield, when you sang "For Whom the Bell Tolls" and "One" you were making a political statement, esp w/ "Disposable Heroes". Now Lars says "Metallica is an apolitical band." DAMN YOU.

    AND SLAYER DAMN YOU TOO.

KERRY KING SLAYER MANAGEMENT HID $11.5 MILLION DOLLARS OF BAND REVENUE FROM DAVE LOMBARDO, FIRED HIM, AND ALL WE GOT WAS THIS CRAPPY FAREWELL SETLIST

ARMY USES SLAYER TO PUMP UP TROOPS STATIONED IN GULF

    J.D. CONSIDINE, The Baltimore SunSUN-SENTINEL

Slayer singer Tom Araya can't help but smirk. Considering the way current events are catching up to those described in the song War Ensemble, from the album Seasons In the Abyss, Slayer suddenly seems uncannily prescient. Does he feel a bit prophetic when he sings those lyrics now?

"Oh, just a little," he says with a laugh.

It's not a pretty song by any means. An aural blitzkrieg whose chorus climaxes with the lines, "The final swing is not a drill. It's how many people I can kill," it is filled with brutal images and blaring guitars, all propelled at the breathless pace of thrash metal. In fact, the music so accurately sums up the controlled panic of combat that the Army itself has been using Slayer songs to psych its troops for military maneuvers in the Saudi desert.

"Yeah, they play them over the loudspeaker," says Araya from a tour stop in Montreal. "The music is pretty intense. It's the proper kind of music to be playing at the time."

Does he take it as a compliment, then? "Well ... I dunno," he says. "I think it's kind of cool that we offer them some kind of aggressive inspiration. Especially out there. You need that little edge. Otherwise, you might end up coming home dead."

But Araya, though happy to help the troops, doesn't really see the song as an endorsement of war. That might seem odd, given the band's name and its penchant for titles like Expendable Youth, Spill the Blood, Angel of Death and Mandatory Suicide, but as Araya points out, singing about death and destruction doesn't necessarily qualify as an endorsement. The group is booked this weekend at Miami Beach's Cameo Theatre.

"If we were for all these things, we wouldn't be here, you know what I mean?" he says.

"Actually, I write what I see. I am not for or against anything (in a song). I am, personally, a very opinionated person. But when I write, I don't write as a preacher would, telling people what they should and shouldn't do. I write sort of painting a picture of what I see.

"And, hopefully, I've painted the picture vividly enough for people to understand what it is I have to say. That way, they can see the picture, and if they don't like the picture, they can do something about it."

Araya understands that the band's unblinking vision, combined with its show-no-mercy sonic assault, has given Slayer one of the most fearsome reputations in rock. "I think the intensity that we create scares people," he says.

But for those willing to take the ride -- in particular, the band's core audience of pre-adolescent males -- Slayer's music can provide a much-needed catharsis, a way of working past real-life horrors. "You get past the ugliness because you see the beauty," he says. "And that's the idea. That's what I'm trying to do."

Sometimes there's not much of a difference at all but heavy metal is supposed to be harder than hard rock.

    LMAO

    Epic rant, Monster.

Yeah, the end of the Cold War kinda rekt some bands' raison d'être - like Metallica and Megadeth - and WTF happened to Dave Mustaine?

Yeah well, on the good side: Jeff Young, Chuck Behler rocked the house in Detroit City, Harpos 1988 on So, Far So Good tour. Jeff Young was an amazing guitar harmonizer, as well like Chris Poland, who outshredded Mustaine at the Peace Sells tour. Still "Into the Lungs of Hell" is an amazing well written track, and Dave wrote the best songs on Kill Em All. I don't think he wrote Metal Militia. Dave deserves credit for his 1980s stuff . Ride Lighting stuff too - it didn't gel on Rust too mechanical sounding.

Like the old Danzig club tours w/ John Christ, Chuck Biscuits I saw that lineup 3 times, and they brought the house down, Chuck Biscuits made John Bonham look like a high schooler. Chuck smashed and crashed his way thru cool drum fills, time signatures. Danzing once played to Detroit the same night as Voivod across town. Danzig was $5, Voivod was $20.00 on Dimension Hatross tour. Which one do you think we went to? Lemme tell ya there was some trim at the Danzig show. Anyways ...

Sorry if I was bashing Priest but I always looked at them as Rock N Roll, their best stuff. When they came back w/ new double bass drummer trying to keep up w/ Thrash bands it wasn't them, IMO. It's like when Led Zep gets included in Metal mags back in the day, it's
like: what the hell are you talking about?

Destruction slammed the crowd at Blondies 1989 Release From Agony as a four piece, their guys were Schmier, Harry, and Olly w/
dual leads like the always killer Holt/Hunolt guitar duos trading off licks. Gary Holt is a legend like Jeff Hanneman always banging thru the songs back then, Exodus always KILLED IT LIVE, like Slayer w/ Lombardo. Never saw Bostaph who is still awesome too, in his discs.
Diablous has some of Hannemans best writing like Hell Awaits. By 1989-90 is was three piece Thrashers Whiplash Cangelosi on drums, Portaro, Bono tight as thePowerPain, Mayhem discs live flawless like the NO MORE COLOR tour from Coroner 1990 another power trio w/ the most perfect live leads and rythm sections, and POWERFUL note for note perfection from Tommy Baron, Marky Edelman, and Broder who played w / a pick. Of course, the you had Crumbsuckers who did every song from Life of Dreams expertly Dan Richardson again, missed a a half measure like once out of 90 min. Outstanding.

    The difference is:

If you're Angus Young and you hired Axl Rose, you F__Ked up.

Neither band is metal, one is a Rock legend, one is a d-bag who can't tell warmonger Killery blowing up Syria-Libya is worse than Donald.

He sure did. I saw Megadeth in some little dump in Richmond, VA back when they were touring Peace Sells in '86 and Poland definitely outshined Mustaine. It was also during that show where I learned what a jackass Mustaine could be. He spent half the night badmouthing Reagan and when someone finally took issue with it he kicked his beer out of his hands. I thought a riot was going to break out but everyone thought better of it and things calmed down.

Because of all that bullsh*t I stopped following Megadeth and Mustaine a long time ago but a few years back someone here told me that Mustaine went Born Again Christian which just cracks me up. It's funny how ****** bags like him lurch wildly from one extreme to the other.

No big. I stopped following Priest in the mid-80s and I was never big on their studio stuff. They've always been a band that is best heard live and in a large venue. I do like their live DVD Battle Cry that was recorded at Wakken in 2015 (that video of "Electric Eye" is from that gig), especially now that the band is utterly and completely finished despite Rob Halford's delusions to the contrary. How he could take what's left of that group - minus both Tipton and Downing - out on tour and call it Judas Priest is beyond me. They're doing some shows in our area in May but I certainly won't be going to see them.

Yeah, and that was after he f*cked up following Bon Scott's death. AC/DC without Bon Scott is like Little Feat without Lowell George. Fugedaboutit.

    Drunks & Posers - don't get me started...

Thanks - I'll check it out. Goth Metal never piqued my interest so even the old stuff is new to me...

Angus / AC-DC louder than The Who live, but after 2 80s gigs w/ Simon Wright on drums. Killer. But Joe my old pal said, Young is 3/4
deaf poor guy. Ozzy said in a recent bit, unless he takes a special pill, all day his ears roar as if a jet plane takes off. Protect your health man, once it goes ...feel bad for Brian Johnson nice guy superb live singer 110%

I stopped all alcohol for the last 15 years, n/a beer only... never felt better. Good for Dave M. and Gary Holt on their sobriety, people can believe in whatever works .Rachel Goswell from Slowdive another tragedy, not from substances tho, .. you can wiki it ...

But what do I know, I am expert Beatles fan who thought Yesterday was John singing until 4 mo's ago. Beatles sound better in mono.
Why- cause when I was 5 I had a kiddie record player to play Rubber Soul. Dehumanizer is best Sabbath album and tour.

Take this - a great Dio Sabbath you think?

    Slowdive - Alison

alison Monster Zero partially rewritten lyrics

Listen close, and don't be shy
I'll be here in the morning
    Cause I'm just floating
    Your cigarette still burns
Your messed-up world will thrill me
    Alison, I'm lost
    Alison, I said we're sinking
There's nothing here but that's okay
Outside your room, your only sister's spinning
(and so on), tells me she's just fine
I guess she's on my side now
And the sailors they strike poses
TV covered walls, end so slowly
you talk and had your fill
Your messed-up world still thrills me
    Alison, I'm lost
    Alison, I'll drink your wine
I wear your clothes, when we're both fine
    Alison, I said we're sinking
(and so on) she tells me we're both fine now
I guess she's on my side now

Not to mention all the Metal bands and washed up Hollywood actors constantly whining on Blabbermouth.net, calling Pres. Trump a racist, just because he insists on enforcing existing immigration requirements and laws.

Musicians and actors BTW who are too shallow to realize IDENTITY POLITICS is a PSY-OPERATION BY THE DEEP STATE ... divide
and conquer ... black vs.white, gay vs.straight, women vs. men, religion vs. atheist, America vs. Russia, fake news vs. truth.

Rose McGowan said at the end of 'Brave' book ( dating Weinstein for 5 years after the rape) buy my 2 perfumes, and was negotiating a clothing line based on her name, until METOO twitter geeks started blogging her opportunism and her cashing in on the traumatic PTSD / politicizing of human tragedy ...

Just like when the Democrats using hispanics and blacks to shore up Killery Clintons warmonger agenda, fund rasing, tv ads, and votes while her and Obama bombed the Afghans, Pakistanis, Blacks, Arabs, Russians back to the stone age for 8 years ...Libya, Ukraine, Iraq
Democrat politicans really care about foreigners ( unless they're next to some oil or natural gas pipeline and fields apparently.)

Explain how Russia could fix the election using Facebook again? What BS.

Yeah, I heard Johnson was thinking of hanging it up because of his hearing. Metal fans gotta be careful about this, too. Over the years I've managed to develop tinnitus on account of loud music and power equipment so now I'm a lot more conscious about protecting my ears. I still blast tunes now and then but I always wear noise canceling headphones when I'm working with a chainsaw, etc.. I wonder about Ozzy's problem, though - I've heard about roaring in the ears and how that's often a symptom of a much more serious problem that people encounter before they have a stroke. Obviously, that dude has a lot of health issues and I wonder if his fondness for acid contributed to his problems. That sh*t's not candy but he used to eat it like it was.

Speaking of his old band and some of the different styles they played I like this song off of Paranoid - hearing Iommi play what is essentially jazz guitar is definitely an interesting change of pace:

I can also remember Bill Ward talking about the style of drumming on this song being Swing - for some reason I don't hear Benny Goodman when I listen this:

Then again, I don't know dick about drums so I wouldn't know that style of play from a hole in the ground...

The better to eviscerate what little is left of your privacy, too.

No seriously - tech sites point out that EVERYTHING you do on an Ipad or Iphone is sent back to Apple Inc. Headquarters. They keep track of everything you do.

Anyway - don't know if you're a Jethro Tull fan, But did you know their lead guitarist Martin Barre with band since 1968 was recently unceremoniuosly fired from Jethro Trull without so much as a faxed letter or thank you card from singer Ian Anderson?

Drummer Doanne Perry was fired without any personal notification either. Man, and I thought my Dads band leader was a jerk. Drummers are always treated poorly in music. My Dad always told me stories when I was a kid that his band leader routinely screwed out of paychecks.

Shocking tale Martin Barre talks about it in this interviews.

"GM: Well, it’s just unconscionable for Ian to not inform you of this. I’m outraged. Tull fans are outraged. He reportedly said it was a scheduling conflict.

MB: That’s not true. Sometimes it’s convenient and more pleasant to perceive a different reality than the one that really exists. I’m very positive about everything right now. I’m happier with the people I’m working with. I don’t have a problem with what’s happening. It will all level out. People will like what they like. The difficult corner, though, [with Ian’s project] is that everybody needs to know exactly what’s happening. There’s an element of being misled by not saying anything. The fact that it’s advertised the way it is in some countries certainly doesn’t suggest anything. It also doesn’t explain that Doane and I are not part of it, so the presumption could be that we are there. That bothers me. It’s on my website. It’s a big mistake. If he’s made one mistake, it’s that he hasn’t made it absolutely clear who is in the band, because people don’t go to see Ian. They go to see Ian and the band. And I think it’s quite important to know who’s in the band! It’s a shame. It’ll reflect badly on them."

Yeah - when the CIA, Homeland Security is illegally wiretapping Trump Towers during the campaign, before a guy is EVEN ELECTED
I think that it is a pretty good sign the National Security, Police States of America are totally out of control.
