The kids are only masking up out of kindness to the oldies and a lot of oldies are feeling bloody embarrassed about so much fuss being made about a few coughs and colds.

The pubs are shut and the cinemas are shut and the footie is shut and the public is getting bored arseless.

I give this keffufle until the end of April and then whoever is in charge will have to think up a new crisis.

You don’t like being locked in your home as you starve to death?
    The folks will revolt

Simple. The virus crest hit China and enough were exposed so the numbers went down. Same with Europe and soon the US.

If masks make people feel better then why not? Doesn’t cost the economies very much.

Lockdowns on the other hand have poisoned economies all over the world.

The most expensive placebo in history!!

Come to Sweden. All the restaurants, cafés and pubs are open for business. You don't even need to wear a mask.

Not wearing a muzzle ever... I am clinically vulnerable because of immunosuppressants I have to take and was supposed stay locked in doors until yesterday 1st Aug.. but I have been out nearly everday since lockdown 23 March, with no mask and never caught any bloody virus..

I have been eating out at multiple pubs and restaurants since they opened and nothing has happened to me... I was in a packed 'spoons on Friday, probaly 300+ people crammed in because of the hot weather...

This virus bollocks needs stop, its just a flu strain. Thank god I get the flu and pneumococcal vaccines from docs...

The WHO has expressed concern that common vaccinations are not being given due to concerns about the spread of c-19.

For those who are firm worshipers of R0, it has never run higher than 3 and for measles it runs at around 15.

Don’t be too surprised to see it and other things not being vaccinated for come back in historic numbers.

But this virus takes priority over everything!?

I just returned from Germany. If you try that over there you won't be allowed into just about any place at all.

Actually I do wear a face mask but only indoors or on public transport. I see no good reason to wear it outdoors when people are far away.

I have serious doubts about what good it does but am told that it protects others but not yourself.

It makes others feel safer and it is not an undue burden on me.

I feel the same way. I was obliged to wear it indoors in Germany and it wasn't much of a bother. On more than one occasion the mask slipped below my nose (covering only my mouth) and I was promptly "told" by a stern-faced employee.

They are not terribly strict about it here in Amsterdam except on public transport. (But OMG are they ever strict about it especially on the trams.) I am aware of the special vulnerability to the elderly and I may continue to wear a mask during cold and flu season after the c-19 stuff is done.

The Japanese have historically worn masks even before c-19 and barely shut anything down with relatively low impact health wise so maybe there is something to this.

Gotta love the Germans unless you’re Dutch and then you are obliged to hate them. I’ve met young Dutch people who are still angry about the hunger winter. I get it.

Yes, I was the first time in Japan in 1966 and I was told it is to prevent them from infecting other citizens.

Well I’m partial but they did introduce African Slavery to the new world. But like everything else the British stole from the Dutch, slavery was yet another and they did it on a larger scale.

I saw Asians wearing masks in Amsterdam as early as February and they had extremely low case and death rates here.

Maybe they just wanted to point out ... "Yes, I am Asian but I am clean & healthy!"

My two daughters here are Dutch and I learned from their mother that the Dutch have NO filter. A thought pops into their mind and out it comes. I hated that at first but she never goes to bed angry having already told me off and we have no accumulating unresolved issues. I’m wrong so fix it. And she expects me to fight back hard. It’s like having a Viking girlfriend only without the broadswords :)

Nobody is enforcing the face mask law here... The stores say its not their job to enforce the law and staff wont stop people coming in and the police just say they are too busy to police it so its all bollocks... When I go in a store people wearing a mask or not is like 60/40...

You dont have to wear a mask in restaurants, cafes or pubs.. its just in stores, shopping centres, public transport etc....

I salute the Swedes for having the common sense to save their own economy in the face of so small a threat.
