Quantum, do you know about the Vienna school? It's fake political science pretending to be economics. It's dishonesty is bone deep and was crafted out of Cold War hysteria.

Do you mean the Austrian school of economics? Yes, I know about it. People like Hayek, however, were intellectuals, who could actually support an argument in a debate. In contrast, today's self-proclaimed internet "capitalist" keyboard warriors think they are experts in economics because they've heard of the principle of supply and demand, and because Fox news tells them about Venezuela. Sad...

I agree that we should be doing a lot more testing than we do now. The problem with the current testing are:
1: The cost. It costs a few hundred dollars for each test.
2: The wait. You have to wait to do the test and wait to do the result.
3: Bad results. There are some false positives and some false negatives.

But we should be devoting a lot more research to improving our testing so that hopefully one day, everyone can have a home kit that they test themselves with every day or every few days. Hopefully the vaccines work out so we don't have to test as all the time but working on testing is a good backup plan if the vaccine plan falls through.

These numbers come from independent organizations. Also, even if herd immunity was high, that wouldn't stop people from demanding a vaccine and wouldn't hurt the manufacturers.

Wouldn’t that be nice in a pandemic?

    But this is Trump’s America.

The “can do” spirit has been replaced by... apathy and excuses

Actually the testing done at Illinois is only $10/per.

Thats awesome. Testing keeps getting better every day. Too bad we don't do more widespread testing and put more money into improving them.

It's still a PCR test, just obtained a different way. To be clear, I hope it does work better. It is an improvement.

The trouble is none of the PCR tests have been validated. This is a political scam. The virus exists and there is compelling evidence showing its presence in December or earlier in one LA study.

That means it was ACTUALLY there a month or more before the official start date. The virus had at least a one month head start. During that time it first came to my home town.

If it was running free a month before the official start date, and is highly infectious, what possible good could the shut down do?

This is neither a card game nor a debate.

Big Pharma and FDA are as corrupt a pair of organizations as have ever been. Anybody that doesn't understand that simple fact simply has not informed himself. The best single example of that is the OxyContin story, but there are many more.

LOL, I would love to see the first person "in line" to "demand" a vaccine.

Slowly, herd immunity develops on its own. This got started about 10+ months ago, so it's coming along.

Yea. Woulda been nice if Trump’s CDC head hadn’t decided to reinvent the wheel.

South Korea had a functioning test almost immediately because they modeled it on the WHO test

    Really?

Is this the same political party that says it is bad and should be illegal to have a marriage partner of the same sex?

There is no theory to say herd immunity only "develops on its own"! Lol

In fact, the opposite is probaby more likely to occur - "herd immunity" is quite possible to mean there is no "herd" to be "immune" because the herd died, sometime that occurs.

This "herd" came close to "immunity" before all died.

I guess that's the way some like that that idea in the ideal of "Manifest Destiny"

    Good points.

There are also WAY to few tests available to do the testing and contact tracing specified in the plan for opening our economy that is documented on www.whitehouse.gov.

And, THAT is the proposal created by medical science, industry execs and administration officials on how we can safely open our economy.

Today, Trump actually downplays testing - refusing to help, complaining about the results, requiring the data to be filtered through DHS before it becomes available through CDC.

This is an ongoing and direct assault on testing.

Obviously, it hasn't stopped testing, but it is causing testing to be insufficient for the methods of use that would have the largest impact on opening our economy safely.

If you want a test and cannot afford it, call/ask around. There is one clinic about 40 minutes from us that will do the tests for whatever your insurance pays and if you don't have insurance, they say they will forget to charge you when you come in. I know several people who have been there. Some load up the car and make a day of it.

I have not been tested. I have insurance. I just do not want that q-tip jabbed way up into my sinus cavity.

And for me I don't want to waste a test that might be needed elsewhere. Since there aren't enough...Mr. Trump

That's everyone who is even slightly overweight (at any age), just for starters. If you're also unfit, or have a bad diet, or smoke, or drink too much, or have insulin resistance/diabetes, you're high risk.

Your premise is flat out dangerous, in a society where half of the adult population is in one or more of the above groups.

WTF? Where are your testing stations? We have them all over the place, and we have a fraction of the COVID America does. And they're all free!

Correct, it is not a theory, it is an observable process, it is reality. The term is merely semantics.

The only thing in question is just how much of any given herd must be infected before the process is complete.

You know that no country would tolerate a plague running unchecked.

So it's obvious to all you are doing propaganda. But old school brainwashing like that doesn't work when people are afraid. You had lost before you started the nonsense, hundreds of BS posts ago.

If I have "lost", why do you keep responding with nonsense? Why does it bother you so that herd immunity has been developing for 9 months? Why does it bother you so that Sweden did it right while the rest of the world did it wrong?

Look at the polls, your propaganda is not working.

Because the traditional response to lies is the truth. Doesn't seem to work in this age of social media, but I am old and have no desire to change my habits.
