Let's point out that Vietnam's 6% growth has a large part to do with the U.S. opening up its market to goods produced in Vietnamese factories.

Well, GDP is very relevant, but it takes a little nuanced understanding to correctly draw a meaning from the statistics. And these statistics can be manipulatively framed in all sorts of ways.
It's easier for a country like China or Vietnam, with lower per capita GDP in the first place, to show higher percent growth, than it is for an "advanced" already long established country.

Mostly true, but it happened a little after that, and might not have had anything to do with Kennedy's death. The late-60s is when the Democrat party began to take a left turn.

 

It was a slow-slide into Hell, Kaz... I lived it, and I watched it happen. Every sweet, loving moment of it.



Johnson's Vietnam debacle became Nixon's debacle, and then after Nixon was forced out of office, we had six long, horrible years of 'Stagflation', and a rudderless, mindless nothingness for government under both Republicans and Democrats -- highlighted by the inept failure of Jimmy Carter.

It wasn't until Ronald Reagan took over in late January 1981 that we even began to "dig out" of the mess that started with Johnson and Vietnam. And, in truth, it wasn't until the end of Q2, 1983 that the economy really started its robust growth, with America beginning to project real power in the world once again.

The Democrat Party morphed increasingly into Left, More Left, Very Left, and now -- Extreme Left. It bears little resemblance now to the party of John F. Kennedy and down-to-earth, America-loving, common-sense, taxpaying working people.
