Marjorie Taylor Greene posts anti-transgender sign across hall from lawmaker with transgender child

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is facing sharp criticism after she posted an anti-transgender sign outside of her office, directly across the hall from another lawmaker who has a transgender child.
The antagonizing move by Greene comes as the House is expected to pass the Equality Act, a bill that would ban discrimination against LGTBQ Americans, later Thursday, after the Georgia Republican's attempt to block the act failed on Wednesday. It also follows a string of incendiary statements and actions by the freshman Georgia congresswoman, who was removed from her committee assignments earlier this month after violent past comments were unearthed.

Even for Greene (who has a reputation for being antagonistic) this is incredibly insensitive and tone-deaf.

Especially, on the same day that Dr. Levine is facing questions.

I feel that the sharp criticism is warranted.

Greene (The FACE of the GOP) resorting to such insensitive behavior is a Disgrace to Congress.

Does anybody (ever) expect Greene to tone down her pathetic act?

Major bitch... I don't really care to comment on her after that, much like the current administration refuses to.... I mostly just clicked on this to try and learn what an "anti-transgender sign" is...

 

She is human garbage. Trash like her deserve to be dehumanized.

 

Her sign is accurate and is not anti transgender. It is anti junk science and anti politically correct. Ignoring the wishes of others to be treated as they imagine themselves to be is not anti any person.

 

Eh...maybe, maybe not. I just think it's hateful.

As MJ Davies pointed out, both sides are playing games, but one is childish gloating, while the other is just hatefulness.

 

To me, it looks like Newman started it (which is even silly to have to write since we're talking about adults here)...

Wednesday AFTERNOON: "thought we'd put up our Transgender flag so she can look at it every time she opens her door" with winking and transgender flag emojis.

Wednesday EVENING: Greene put up her sign.

 

I don't know anything about Newman nor her district, but on a national level, this is a political blunder. This type of behavior is the antithesis of the administration's approach to politics. There is certainly reason for celebration - by the People, not Newman. If Greene had a lick of sense in her head, she would have ignored it.

Greene apparently has the backing of her party, but I hope Biden has a talk with Newman. The adults are back in charge, and the children need to speak only when spoken to.

 

How is stating there are two genders hateful?

Her issues go beyond this one incident. This just adds to the pile. In this case, It’s just another example of her intentionally inflaming those who do not agree with her.

 

How is Science "inflaming"?

 

Except it isn’t correct. There are more than two sexes and even more gender’s just due to intersexed individuals. There are so many chromosomal variations that saying there are only two is absolutely junk science — I am not surprised from someone with her views but I believed posters here to be more... informed.

 

It's not what she said. It's who she is, and the fact it was directed at a person. Newman's child is in the middle of this, which is Newman's fault, but Greene's comments were directed at the child. It wasn't a generic statement; it's not part of a speech. Both sides are wrong here.

Furthermore, arguing against expanding rights to people usually involves hatred of some sort. So it's going to be viewed that way.

 

Science isn't inflaming, but we're not talking about science. What Greene did was inflaming. What Newman did was inflaming. It's a flame war between two adolescent congresswomen who should immediately move their office locations.

Greene is correct.... There are two genders.. One person taunted the other corrected....

 

Greene is a whacked out conspiracy theorist. I really don't care how "correct" she is.

Insensitive behavior? What doesn't the left consider insensitive behavior? We can't say it's OK to be white, we can't use the OK sign, we can't say all lives matter and we can't state a scientific FACT that there are only two genders. But then again, EVERYTHING offends the left even as they pull out all the stops and try to offend the right as often as possible. Anyway, welcome to the 1st Amendment.

BTW, how old is Newman's daughter and I'm curious to know if it was insensitive of CNN to blast a news story about him/her/it having a mental health issue.

 

And CNN made damn sure the country knew the kid was in the middle of this. Well done CNN.

 

I don't like CNN. Old clips of Krystal Ball in her younger years are great. That's about it.
