Russians are sending security for maduro.

Not to save him, as much as to get as much of its invested wealth out of the nation before it collapses.

Military appearing on television pledging support of maduro.

They can't send their stolen wealth outside the country, and have few options for fleeing-maybe cuba.

Be nice for the nation if someone put a bullet in maduro now, before more people have to die.

    This is how socialism ends.

Probably thinking they are getting more freebies.

Chavez was better at handing out other peoples money. (think his daughter is one of the wealthiest in the country)

Maduro ain't giving out the freebies.

They had a good working model until they decided to go socialist. It was called Capitalism. Maybe AOC should run down there and get some real world lessons on stupid her ideas are and what a nitwit she really is.

    Typical Reaction when socialism fails.

It's the whole idea behind the "Cloward–Piven" strategy that the radical left in America has adopted.
Obama was a student of the "Cloward–Piven" system.

In the endgame socialism always fails.

It didn't work in the Soviet Union, Eastern Europe, Communist China, North Korea, Cuba and it ain't working in California, South Africa or Venezuela.

You have to wonder why they would vote for someone like her. Are they actually working in the best interest of the United States or hoping she can come in and wreck the status quo.

    Deflection much?:bored:

Don't worry. It will all be ok.

Regardless of your "opinion", the overwhelming majority of the RW has already figured out that obsessing over AOC is a LOSING Battle.

It might be time that you consider joining them.

    You might feel better.

    Just a friendly suggestion.

As far as the actual OP topic of Venezuela?

Unless we plan on sending troops, there isn't much we can do about it.

Democrats are sell outs of the Country. They always work against the Best interests of the country.

What have they done for the country in the last 60 years. Just what did they do to make anything better for Everybody and not just their party?

Hard to tell and really know back then.

In Venezuela, socialism has succeeded the way it always does
Here is how South America's once-wealthiest nation, with greater oil reserves than Norway or Saudi Arabia, turned into a failed state.

A writer for the leftist Nation magazine opined in 2013, "Yes, the Venezuelan president could be a strongman," upon the Venezuelan dictator's death. "But he leaves behind what might be called the most democratic country in the Western Hemisphere."

Such are the delusions of socialism. Chavez, having been legitimately elected in 1998, quickly set out to destroy Venezuela's democratic institutions. Taking advantage of a weak and too-easily-altered national constitution, he neutered the elected legislature and destroyed the independence of its judiciary. He thus augmented his own power at home. Abroad, he began the work of subverting democratic governments of other countries in his neighborhood and subsidizing Cuba's repressive regime with cheap oil.

Under Chavez, Venezuela's profitable industries were systematically expropriated by the state. As a consequence, they rapidly failed. Oil production, a mainstay of what had been South America's strongest economy, plummeted. Soon enough, the sky-high prices of oil from the last decade receded as well. This meant that in order to keep up the stream of benefits for the poor that had until then kept him in power — to hold up the mask of a smiley, happy-faced socialism — Chavez began inflating the currency, destroying his citizens' savings and driving international investment out of the country......snip~

Isn't it interesting (and ironic) that poverty often tends to take over in resource-rich countries?

(maybe because their economies are not relying so much on their people as a resource, so the flow of money does not go to the people, and then somebody else buys up all the country's natural resources, or it becomes all the easier for government to secure a foothold on total economic power)

LATE-STAGE SOCIALISM: ‘Horror, fear, despair’: Venezuela’s oil capital shattered by ‘tsunami’ of violent looting.

“El demonio,” says Betty Méndez, a local shopkeeper, by way of explanation for the wave of looting and unrest that convulsed Maracaibo earlier this month.

Most, however, describe the mayhem in psychiatric terms: a collective breakdown that shocked this lakeside city to its core and offered a terrifying glimpse of Venezuela’s possible future as it sinks deeper into economic, political and social decline.

“Horror, fear, despair,” said María Villalobos, a 35-year-old journalist, weeping as she relived three days of violence that many here call la locura – “the madness”.

“I thought it was the start of a civil war.”
