It is too late to save some of the businesses and jobs. But since that doesn't apply to you or bother you then we can do whatever lights your fire.
The ones I'm astonished at are those that have a valve in the front of the mask near the mouth. If the wearer coughts, it just blows out through the valve - which is EXACTLY what was supposed to be filtered!!!
?? Why would you say it doesn't bother me? OF COURSE it bothers me. We need to get with the program and get this virus under control. We need to produce the test kids and follow a plan such as that on whitehouse.gov, so we can open as early as possible.
I don't think anyone should lose their business because we needed to shut them down or curtail their operations. For now at least, we compensate them for their lost income. At some point, if we can't find a cure, effective treatment, or develop a vaccine, we would no doubt revisit their viability. It's social justice to share the burden of shutdowns. That said, we would be giving up on containing the virus if we allowed clubs to operate in the middle of a pandemic with a lot of new cases. I don't think we the people are prepared to do that.
What a completely spurious argument. So a someone gets pushed of the cliff its not the person who pushed them whose responsible its the fall correct? If someone is shot and bleeds out its not the bullet that killed them its blood loss induced heart failure? Every single one of those people listed in US COVID fatality figures had the virus. Many, perhaps the majority wold have had underlying medical conditions that left them vulnerable if infected. Some may even have been walking 'time bombs' waiting for any major medical incident to finish them off. Regardless whether underlying conditions ended up killing them or the virus did so directly the fact remains that it was still the virus that triggers their deaths.
Some were even killed in auto accidents and still made the list. I think you understand the comment well enough.
No we don't compensate them. The business owners who lose their businesses simply lose it. There is no compensation for them. There was some temporary compensation for their employees if they could get an application in before the big guys. That doesn't hep the business owners personally. I hate the authoritarian response to this virus. I little faith in federal government any longer and I'm beginning to feel the same about state and local governments. We deserve better than this. I disagree. We just needed to fight the virus without messing with the economy. Instead we created a second crisis. It is the dumbest thing I have seen government do since invading Iraq.
Europe deserved better, and they got it. BS, the tools we have to fight the disease are limited. The second crisis is because those tools were incompetently used, when they were used at all.
The point is there should be compensation. Obviously, the system is rigged to take care of rich folks and let everyday folks go hang. There are more than 100,000 Americans dead now who shouldn't have to have lost their lives. All we had to do is match what they did in British Columbia. I don't think you understand. Letting the virus spread damages the economy because people slow their spending even for businesses remaining open. We have to get the new case count down or we're going to cause a depression. We created an even worse economic problem by how we dealt with the economy.
I disagree. They had no right to do it in the first place and they have no right to pay people for doing nothing. The whole thing is corrupt. Yes power and money win here and in every other system. That is opinion. We lose tens of thousands every year to seasonal flu. This one is worse than average, obviously, but the approach has been hysterical, not sensible. I don't think you can compare a country of 300+K people to a Canadian province. I think the shutdown was far worse than the virus. Of course I understand that. But that is a choice. It is the exercise of free will. It is not a government mandate. We need to stop suppressing the economy or we're going to cause a depression. Exactly my point.
No, it's a scientifically and mathematically valid estimate. If we had bent the curve, thousands and thousands would not have died. It could not be otherwise.
If they hadn't died, they would be alive. I realise that's complicated... but as I said, it could not be otherwise.
