So you approve of the system because you have your place as a good little slave.

I'm not a slave, unless you count the money taken from me every pay to feed and house those who won't work. Otherwise, I do what I want, I go where I want, and I do it when I want. I trade my services for the means to survive. It's called working for living. You should try it sometime.

My own, along with fairness and equal freedom for all. That comes about via more voluntary transactions, not by runaway government mandates enforced at the point of a gun.

And the basis of economic freedom is self-reliance, self-responsibility, and wise decisions.

Of course, but that does not negate the fact that freedom requires voluntary transactions and agreements - not forced decrees.

Considering the number of citizens and politicians who are to wanting and working to "bring it to its knees," your desire may very well become reality. I suppose that some may think China is a bastion of freedom and equality.

    Ummm, no.

And you know it, Dems passed the Heroes Act a couple months ago.

Republicans countered with $200 a week and no lawsuits for businesses that killed their workers.

    And then they left town...

FU doesn't get a lot bigger than that.

    But please, keep lying.

There is also monopsony. But that's above the pay grade of the forum. But you might be interested.

The dictionary definition is a sole buyer of labor, but I've seen economists use it to describe a situation where there are only a few businesses and they play 'follow the leader' to better screw their employees.

You think the problem is just that the majority of Americans lack the morals needed to contend with economic devastation?

Ridiculous. The majority of this country keeps getting pushed down further and further. They're getting desperate and angry. It won't go on this way for long.

All those things are best accomplished with self-reliance, self-responsibility, wise life decisions, family, and private charity. Having the government force (backed by violent threat) one group of people to provide for the sustenance of another group of people robs the first group of their freedom and the second group of their dignity.

Fairness and justice consists of treating all citizens the same.

Bad advice. Don't go into debt. Instead, become one of the capitalists... save your money and invest it, and your wealth will grow. That is what smart people do.

People who are financially smart and were living below their means before this "economic devastation" hit are doing just fine. In fact, some of us have grown our wealth since February. There is no reason that the majority of Americans can't be in the same position. Our schools need to teach our youngsters about finances, and about consumption versus investing.

    1. The consumer has the power to stop this.
    2. I'm open to your suggestions of how to change that.
    3. Could you elaborate on the problems this causes?
    4. I'm all for getting the government out of those things.

There is a huge reason: Our entire economy is geared towards the concentration of wealth among financiers. It's been that way since the 70s.

Economics is really about two things: Who's doing what, and who are they doing it for? Everything else is a mechanism for that to play out. The financier class has been sucking up more and more of the power to direct that labor towards themselves and their benefactors.

Bingo! Taxpayers are slaves for every hour spent working to pay for the welfare state.

And take it one step further - live frugally, save money, invest it, and make even more money. Instead of all these people bitching about capitalism, they need to wise up and jump on the train. It is a great ride!

Our homeless problem is a national disgrace, and we're about to make a million or two additional homeless.

We left the 1800s, and Scrooge, behind.

For millions living below their means is simply not an option. For millions more, their savings are going to run out.

We went through this before, in the Great Depression, we shouldn't have to relearn that bitter lesson.

I was self employed for thirty five years because I refused to bow down to corporate and govt. demands to not starve.

So have you bought anything from Amazon as of late? Supported Google?

One thing you seem to have forgotten, the employer is not responsible for the employees financial matters. It is an exchange of labor/knowledge/time based on the production benefit to the company. Don't like the ratios? Start your own company, and pay the employees whatever you deem fit.

There is no such thing as a 'lining wage', mainly due to a virtually indefinite number of modes of living.

You want more of the 'pie', then make yourself worth more.

So other than spending other people's money, what do you recommend? Just out of curiosity, what is the average mortgage debt per household in the US? The average monthly mortgage payment?

    https://www.experian.com/blogs/ask-...ricans-owe-on-their-mortgages-in-every-state/
    https://www.lendingtree.com/home/mortgage/national-average-monthly-mortgage-payment/

Exactly why should other people shoulder the debt that others have racked up? During this COVID-19 shutdown, if people lost their jobs, they were getting an extra $600 per week, per person previously employed. That's $2,400 per month above and beyond what they were getting from State unemployment. What did they do with that money?

Banks don't want people's houses. They will work with people who make a good faith effort. Matter of fact, in many areas, there is a lack of salable inventory in the real estate markets, with prices rising. If you can't sell your house in this market, or you owe more than the market will pay, exactly who is responsible for that?

Half the country spends too much money on new cell phones, nails, and tattoos.

I'm tired of peoples inability to budget being presented as a victimization.

More class warfare using extreme examples, zero sum economics, and fallacies to try yo get a free ride.

My company has had a position advertised for $55k annually starting for two months and can't get people to show up to an interview, have the qualifications, or be able to communicate effectively.

So you think corporations shouldn't be motivated by profit or should be forced to share that profit with people who didnt share the risk?

Some deal you want there. Seems to me you want a win win strategy for yourself.

Capitalism is the most pure form of barter and trade, the most pure economic form.

You oppose that because others take the steps necessary to get more wealthy and you didn't?

Sounds like sour grapes. So you desire to impose a economic system of force, in the name of your perceived fairness?

    Nonsense.
