Sounds odd that unless the DA had evidence of criminal activity I do not understand why either.

I stated in other posts that there is no rational reason to dissolve a corporation why not go after the bad guys in the corporation.

She had every opportunity to file criminal charges against them here.

And a dangerous act by a public law enforcement official if she does not have any.

Because corruption is widespread within the organization.

Four adminstrators are alleged to have defrauded members of $65 million.

They siphoned off income that should have gone to satisfying the organization's purposes. Why would you support that nonsense?

They destroyed their credibility and their usefulness as gun rights advocates. Someone will step forward to fill the void. NRA members will see the wisdom in moving on.

Gun control advocates will only get a leg up if gun rights supporters get bogged down supporting the NRA.

Never good if any public justice department official does things for political reasons, that goes for both camps.

Wonder if the NRA did not want to drag the entire organization in the mud is why they did not want a criminal investigation. Did the NRA cover up the situation?

If these guys did milk the NRA for $65m, they're finished as effective advocates. People will move on to someone they can respect.

I doubt they had a choice in the investigation.

You are most likely correct. If they did what they are being accused of I hope they can be removed and NRA, an organization with a long history of good deeds for the gun owning public, can continue.

I don't think the NRA has been lacking in purpose activism and people who run such organizations get compensated. What are the criminal charges here? None. If the members don't like the way it is run they can stop supporting it, some have, that's how such organizations dissolve not by partisan politicians using the legal system against those they oppose.

The board did two audits and were satisfied with the use of the funds, what business is it of this DA?

    Screw the internal audits.

Letitia James is an officer of the law.

    You know, the law?

It’s like seeing the bear trap, and saying: I’m going to shut down this trap by sticking my foot in it

Then why a lawsuit instead of charging them with a crime?

Because that would likely only affect the people charged with the crime(s).... And criminal charges for those folks remain distinctly possible...

Sometimes, if the entire apple is rotten, you can't just cut away the bad pieces...

I heard on a podcast today that the primary "whistleblower" here is probably Oliver North.

    What a hoot!!

So 4 people out of how many millions and the whole thing is rotten?.....Sorry, that is not passing the smell test.

And shouldn't the criminal charges come first and use that as an example of why it should be dissolved if they get a conviction? Of course that's chancy isn't it? If they are found not guilty of a crime then they'd have absolutely nothing to base thier dissolving claim. Of course they'd probably have the same problem if they did get a conviction.

That shows why they are not charging anyone with a crime. Because the goal isn't to just go after crime. It's to try and get rid of the NRA. Which means this is a political ploy. And people are supporting a DA going after a political organization for political reasons......
