If you look at the areas of the US that are hit hardest by Covid 19, the highest concentration is on the east coast in an area that lies between Massachusetts and Virginia. Why not totally lock down these areas and open up the rest of the country? By lock down I mean no transportation going in or out of these areas. A perimeter would need to be established that would encompass a defined area and within this close of all transportation centers, ports, air ports, rail stations and highways. The movement of goods would be allowed but restricted. The numbers in this region continue to grow due to population density and porosity in terms of ingress and egress. There’s no doubt it is exporting the virus to other areas. Sick Map 5:21:2020.png

Sure. Stopping all goods that come in through east coast ports from being transported across the country shouldn't mess things up too bad, right?
BTW...In one breath you say..."By lock down I mean no transportation going in or out of these areas." then in another breath..."The movement of goods would be allowed but restricted."
How can there be "movement of goods" when you say there should be "no transportation going in or out of these areas"?

What is interesting is that the areas that opened up sooner are doing much better with cases and deaths than the ares that shut themselves down tight to stop the spread. Hmmmmmmmmm.....

There are east coast ports below Virginia. When I said no transportation I meant individuals not commerce. Just think how quickly goods could move on highways without cars. Rail freight would also continue, without the constant movement of individuals in and out of that area, the instance of infection in those areas outside of that area would be dramatically reduced. I'm talking about travel restrictions for everyone in that area of the east coast, even between neighboring states. Today we've learned that there is still flights coming here from China and Europe that needs to stop. I live in the area that would be locked down but if it would help I'd be all for it, what's the difference, nobody is going anywhere anyway.
